I feel dreadful, this is such a crash. I'm having flash backs of a past I've worked hard to deal with. I'm just in slow motion and it's happened over a few days. I see my pdoc next week so I haven't got long Sad

Can you call and get an earlier psychiatrist appointment? I would call and try to get in earlier. I'm so sorry you have crashed. Did something trigger this? The flashbacks of the past must be horrible and I hate that you have to deal with them right now. I would at least call and see if your psychiatrist can do something over the phone. I hope you are able to feel better soon. Keep posting to let us know how you are feeling. We will be here to support you.

Thankyou so much Joy. I don't want to get an earlier appointment just a week early because I don't want to take another patients appointment. It's too late to contact now today but I think possibly tomorrow.

I wish I could have a good therapist to talk to but I actually had so many problems in that area that someone was disciplined as a result of poor treatment. My trust in them is nil and I don't like someone trying to teach me coping methods rather than just listen to what I'm saying. My self management like a lot of us with bipolar are quite good. Talking here helps, thanks againSmile

I used to get crashes quite a bit but for me they were short-lived, i believe my meds kept that in check i was fortunate, maybe had them anywhere from one day to maybe 3 or 4. My heart goes out to you and i truly hope this does not last, if i were you be easy on yourself and for me i jsut try to 'accept' i used to beat myself up all the time b/c along with the crash i'd get nothing done, jsut spent a lot of time in bed, withdrawing from others and isolating this was hard on my husband to see, i would have lows more than crashes tho but i find them very similar i think anyway. Since 2008 i'm having more highs and less lows, i've had bp for 28 yrs, so this illness has changed courses for me somewhat. You are in my thoughts and prayers

I'm sorry you've crashed Sad That's never a good place to be.

Others have suggested you try to see your pdoc sooner- and one way you can try to do that w/o taking another patient's appointment is to see if they can get you into a spot where someone cancelled. I've gotten in to see drs because of cancellations before. Sometimes the docs have emergency slots open for people who need to see them asap.

That must have been a horrible experience with that therapist! I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I understand your reluctance to trust another one. Once you do feel ready, one way you can find a therapist who won't push coping skills is to make that part of the introduction- tell them what you're looking for in a therapist (just talk therapy) and can they accommodate. If no, tell them goodbye and move on to the next one.

Here's hoping you can fill in a cancellation spot!

If you are having this horrible an experience you really shouldn't worry about anyone else. If the doctor's office chooses to book you they think you need to be seen. You don't want your symptoms to get out of hand, but you really don't know until you call, they may fit you in a lunch time appt. Doctors have time built in to the day for emergencies. Also therapy is imperative in situations like this. Coping skills have kept me out of the hospital, out of bed and out of isolation, not to mention off some of the stronger meds. Cognitive behavioral therapy usually encompasses all of this. Don't give up hope, but be at your doc's first thing in the morning.
My experience is no substitute for sound medical advice.

I got an appointment early but couldn't get one before Monday and I'm getting a prescription for sleepers tomorrow.

I don't need cbt I had my first lot 16 years ago and am more than familiar with the technique. In my opinion some of the technique is enforcing denial which is unhealthy I need someone to talk to providing they're treatment of patients isn't so bad that they get sacked! I have good coping skills but not an inner ability to toatally cure myself of bipolar. Besides this I have got the appointment I need and thank you for the replies. I'm too tired for anything but can't sleep so I'll just have to ride it out for another 24 hours.
