I FINALLY have a day off from work, which has been my bipolar salvation, and I just want to RELAX!!! I have a beautiful family, 3 beauftiful and I love them dearlt, HOWEVER, today they are driving me crazy! I have been working EVERY day for many days in a row and all I want to do is have a lazy day!!! I understand that they have just been missing me and I do miss them too, but all I feel like what Im asking is so simple... but its just not working. Ive cried already today, I feel like taking my meds and going to sleep jsut to get some peace, but I know that would be wrong to deprive them from their mother. Im having a battle of wits today, do I take a REAL day off or cater to their every whim?! Please someone give me some advice...

Its hard to balance me time with children time, can you find a movie or something that will keep them busy and you can just kick back and watch it with them? that way they get time with you and you get to rest, do you like to bake? maybe make some cupcakes or something and let them decorate them..

Hope you find a way to get some quiet time for you.

I know how you feel.

There are times when the needs of the family are truly overwhelming.

It's enough to get the best of anyone I think.

I just figured out today (yeah maybe I'm a slow learner or just hard headed)

but...I think most of the problems I have dealing with the kids and my responsibilities around home have to do with the fact that I'm not getting my own needs met.

Just like this morning being Saturday I really had errands I should have run before noon like bank, recyclers, but honestly I'm not a morning person-so why do that if it's going to put me in a brow wrinkle for the rest of the day?

I think you need to rest and take at easy. Let what you can go. I find my first day off after working a stretch I need to just relax for my emotional state of mind.

Right now I have my kids doing chores for money.

I don't know if your kids can do this or not yet but it keeps them occupied and gets a little done around the house. Mine are young enough they can't get big jobs done yet but even if they clean their toys up or help watch play with their baby brother-it's a help and it's good training to pitch in and help get things done.

I'm sorry your having a rough day and maybe you could put in a movie and catch a little nap. I have been doing this myself lately and it does help get me through. It's amazing what 20-30 minutes sleep can do for you.

Hugs!!!

Love my naps!! I consider it a little luxury that I do for myself and it really is a destressor for me. When I get up I am calmer, more relaxed and can then do what I need to do without feeling overwhelmed - my kids are grown now - but I've always done this - my kids would just entertain themselves for a little while - I found out later that many of my girlfriends were doing the same thing - anyway, I think it's a good idea to take a nap when you feel overly stresed or overwhelmed - I know I do!

Since getting on my medication, lamictal, I am not needing the naps as much, but when I am not feeling good, I still take them, lol..

Today was one of those days I wasn't feeling too hot, but after a short nap (for me a hour and a half is a short nap...lol.) I felt a lot better. Polar, were you able to find a way to relax?
