Sorry if this offends anyone...

Lust(keeps the species alive...)-hypersexuality-mania

Gluttony-depression, mania

Greed-it' s not uncommon for bipolars depending on the mood to spend m oney on things they don't need, mania, sociopathic

Lazziness-depression= no energy, apathy

Wrath-rage, mania, sociopathic

Envy-sociopathic

Pride-mania, or grandure, sociopathic

These aren't "sins" they are symptoms!  This was very funny to me when I thought about it. Is the b ible anti-bipolar? These all sound like different moods- there are more of course but these are definately some.

Perhaps you mean psychotic rather than "sociopathic". Being a sociopath is not part of bipolar.

Psychotic also sure but people can be bipolar and sociopaths. I am bipolar and depending on my mood I'm very much a sociopath.

Interesting. I also noticed the word sociopath associated with several of the 7 deadly. To me, that is a condemning term, one without redemption but what do I know? I've always thought Pride is the one to look out for. Envy is thought to be one of the worst too, worse than jealousy.

Perhaps it's good to remember that the various symptoms of bipolar do not define the person, just as the diagnosis doesn't either.

A sociopath is someone who suffers from Antisocial Personality Disorder. This is completely separate from being Bipolar. It has it's own definition and diagnosis. The following link from the Mayo Clinic describes Antisocial Personality Disorder.

We'll basically the seven deadly sins are things that can lead to death or a dissatisfaction with life.... Allot of people spend time being selfish, jealous, lazy, greedy, full of lust. These are things that can lead to major unhappiness. It takes allot of energy to keep up this way of thinking. But if your whole life is about these things you will more than likely be unhappy...I don't think when you are manic or depressed and think this way, that it is a personal decision to be that way. You are not making a conscious decision to behave in a certain way when you are mentally Ill. But if you think of each of the deadly sins long enough, i believe anyone could see how they could lead to detriment. It is very interesting!
