My doc switched me from Seroquel to Seroquel XR today. and lowered my dose from 600mg to 400mg. Although, most days, I only took the 400mg anyways, so that's not really a change.

But can anyone give me any insight as to what to expect as far as difference between the regular seroquel and the seroquel XR?

I took it about an hour ago, and I am feeling pretty tired. The regular 400 mg seroquel didn't make me tired like this. Am I going to feel tired all throughout the day because of it being XR? Ugh, I hope not. I take Adderall in the morning and afternoon, so hopefully that will help with any tiredness I do feel.

So far, today seems okay.

It completely slipped my mind about the lower dose seroquel making you more tired than higher doses, so that's probably why it made me so much more tired last night than my regular seroquel did. Because it doesn't release all 400mg at once.

But I didn't sleep as well as I usually do. I woke up like 4 times during the night. Usually I sleep straight through the night. UGH! And all 4 times I woke up, I felt like it was time to get up and stay up. Maybe it'll get better once my body adjusts to the change. I hope so.

How does the adderall affect you with the other medications? I took it before and had a bad experience? Did the side effects wear off with all of your other meds? I know seroquel is supposed to be a good med. I am sure the tiredness will wear off, especially if you are on adderall. But why the switch?
My experience is no substitute for sound medical advice.

Well, I've been feeling down a lot lately, which I think is especially related to the holidays and just a lot of bad memories that stir up this time of year. So the doc wants to see if switching me to the XR will help with the depression I'm feeling instead of adding another medication. The XR will last the full day instead of just overnight or whatever. So we'll see how it works out.

The adderall doesn't seem to have any interaction with my other meds. I take my other meds (seroquel/topamax/klonopin and now singulair for allergies too) all at night and only the adderall in the morning/afternoon. When I first started it, the first few days - I would get a horrible headache within an hour of taking it. But that only happened the first few days or so. Now, it just gives me energy mostly and I can focus on things better/concentrate easier. I imagine it does the same thing it would do if I wasn't on any other medication, based on what I've read.

Adderall does not interact w/ Seroquel. You'll be fine.
