I have tried to do research that compares the two diagnosis' (spelling?) and cant seem to find really very many differences between the two disorders. Can anyone explain that to me?

I am diagnosed with both. One of the things that distinquish the two are the reasons for your mood changes. With bpd the mood changes are a result of enivornment factors but for bipolar it is a result of a chemical imbalance. Also with bpd there are numerous abandonment issues and you have over whelming emotions. Bpd is a result of an invalidating child environment and bipolar is a result of chemical imbalance. DBT threapy is the prefered method of therapy for bipolar. Also, bpd is considered a perosnality disorder and bipolar is not. I hope this helps.

Thank you both for your responses. The articles were helpful, but I've never heard of someone being diagnosed with both. It makes alot of sense considering, based on what I've read, I exhibit symptoms of both disorders. In any event, it never hurts to be further educated.
