MDJunction to me

liamacker"The part of my recovery plan that I would say made up 80% is MDJ. I suffered a lot prior to finding MDJ, felt alone and had no one to talk to who really understood me. In the Bipolar Group I found like minded individuals who I could relate to and who offered support to me when I needed it. As I recovered, I could then offer support to them which gave me a good feeling about myself. I have met some great people here who I would class as good friends and know I would still be in the slump I was in without them. Now I am stable, I know that MDJ plays an important part in keeping me that way. Thank you MDJ for being there for us all and making us no longer feel alone." (liamacker)

I've been having suicidal thoughts for most of the day, my plan with my pdoc is to go to the ER when I feel this way. I've felt this way before and went to the ER. Well I was told if "this" happens again they would take away my kids bc my no one else is here to take care of them. My husband is in Afghanistan. He comes home in two weeks for two weeks, his kids being in state custody isn't what he needs. I dont know what to do, these thoughts aren't going away. Ermm What would you do if you were in my situation?

I would try and call your psychiatrist right away and let him know what is going on. If you still have those thoughts then really you should go to the ER. Who told you that your kids would be taken away? Do you have any family or friends that could care for them during this time. I really feel that you do need to seek help and being told that your kids would be taken away is not something you need to be thinking about during a crisis situation. Please post and let us know how you are. Did a social worker come tell you this?

Yeah he did(the social worker), because I've been down this road b4 with an overdose and I'm thinking they were implying I'm an unfit mother.

I find that to be a little disturbing. He should be looking for other options for you not using scare tatics. So do you have any family or friends that could take care of your kids for a few days if needed. Did you call your psychiatrist and tell him what you are thinking.

I live in KY all my family is in GA and none of them are willing. My friends around here couldn't help either, I've asked. I think its just being lonely, missing my husband that triggered this. I've had no new changes in meds.

Were you able to get a hold of your psychiatrist at all. I am concerned that you are having these feelings but yet are afraid of your kids being taken away as well. How about your husbands family, anyone on that side? How old are your kids?

I would call my pdoc and tell him what I am feeling and why I was hesitant to go the the ER. I would also focus on my husband coming home soon realize I am very anxious. No this is a feeling that will pass and doctors know how to treat it.

By the way that was a stupid thing for your social worker to tell someone.

What meds are you on? It will be nice to see your husband again soon congratulations!

Great idea Lisa- yes call your psychiatrist and tell him why you are afraid to go to the ER. I am sorry that a social worker had to use scare tatics to try and convince you that you better not do this again. As if you do it on purpose. Being depressed and feeling overwhelmed and anxious can be very mind disturbing but I would hate to see you do harm to yourself because you are afraid your kids will be taken away. Please call your psychiatrist as soon as you can and keep posting ok.

I know how you feel, I have often felt that I needed to go to the ER, but haven't done it b/c I don't want to have problems with my kids again. The best thing you can do right now is call your psychiatrist, tell him why you don't want to go to the ER. There may be something that he/she can do to protect you from losing your kids.
