this may be a totally off topic thing but i was just wondering if it's just me that has drastically changed my look over the last 12 years.

I went from having brown short preppy hair, to having bleached spikey hair and face piercings, to shaved head, to dread locks, and now just kinda plain.

I have never thought much about it and am not so sure it's not just a scene thing or a growing up thing. But when i think about most of my friends they have looked the same way for years. whadda think?

Is it a weird bp thing, or just a weird donkey thing

I have looked fairly different too. Unless you've had a mullet, i wouldn't give it much thought. Oh wait, i did.

i once started a thread named "why can't i stop messing with my hair?" i was dying it and cutting it myself and what started out as fairly long hair became very short hair in a short time. there were soooo many members who put up posts on this forum stating that it was the same with them. they were constantly changing their "look". i think it's like the tattoo thing. our bp brains need something to occupy them. so for a while, we concentrate on hair. when that's gone, we go for changing our living space and rearranging the furniture.

and don't feel badly, flaco. i was in high school in the early eighties and, i was the unfortunate victim of the chick version of a mullet. i look at pictures and just cringe. after that came the perms...and on and on...lol.

yeah that's kinda what i was thinking. it was like a light bulb went off in my head. And its funny you said the tattoo thing, cause one of my really good girlfriends just got a tattoo gun and i am quickly becoming obsessed. uh oh.

i got one and promised myself i'd stop at one. i had a friend once who just got totally out of control and ended up getting HUGE tattoos all over the place. then she moved on to body piercing. the tattoo i got is small and inconspicuous. it hurt like hell, but i'm really glad i did it. the pain itself will stop me from ever doing it again.

I can also grow a wicked pompadour, and shave my head once a year.

donkey with all that searching for your style - how long did it take to go from shaved head to dreadlocks? dreadlocks can take a hell of a long time. but then again you save on shampoo. my hair seems to have reached a kind of zen like state. it's fairly long, curly and i can now wash it only 2 times a week and in between there's a great distance between me and my brush.

as for tatoos, some of them just strike me as garish and faddish. the last thing i want is a permanent fade. i have 2 small tatoos on my right shoulder, one on each side, which i designed myself. no more though, my daughter has forbidden it.

In the last year, I went from having long, blonde curly hair..to having jet black shorter wavy hair. I dont know why I did it. Just wanted something different I guess. Everyone was shocked at first, but now I everyone says it suits me. The only thing that bothered me is that people thought I was turning gothic.

As you've probably already noticed from my profile pics, I go from blonde to brunette about every 6 monhs. I tried black once, but when my boyfriend said "I feel like I live in the Aadams Family mansion", I changed it right away!!

I tried red too... I liked how it looked, but it was hard to maintain. I don't think there's anything weird about reinventing yourself - when you get the urge for a change, do it!

my life as semi platinum blond depends on this. thankfully, my hair
