I read a lot that one of the characteristics or traits of people with Bipolar is that they are terrible with money and are irresponsible. When they are manic they supposedly go wild spending money.

I am only speaking for myself and I am not bragging. I'm trying to give hope to biplar sufferers that they do not automatically have to live terrible, problem filled lives.

26 years ago when first diagnosed, my life was in the dumper: could not hold a job, homeless, terrific stress from debt, and eventually on SS disability.

I decided to go off disability 20 years ago. I take my meds exactly as prescribed and follow a healthy lifestyle but still have bad bouts of depression at times.

Now I've been self-employed for 20 years, never missed any payment on anything in 20 years, money in the bank, my own good health insurance, own my own home, an 803 credit score, and little money stress.

My point is do not give up hope. Problems do not go away overnight but they definitely can get better. Please do not give in to your problems and give up hope. Do not believe that since you have Bipolar that your life has to be terrible. It is not true.

Everyone with big bills to pay and all stressed out, please hang in there. Please trust me. I have been there and I'm speaking from experience. Take some deep breaths. Make a plan and have faith that you can improve on things. Not overnight but you can definitely find a light at the end of the tunnel. I believe you can.

No. I'm sorry. I was just trying to help. I thought I was saying something good.

When I am Manic, and wanting to spend. I go to biglots, dollar stores, that type of thing, If my OCD would allow me, I might go to thrift stores. I don't feel too bad about what I spent, and if its too much, I get to take it back. That kind of makes you think twice. I hate returning stuff.
