I don't know anyone other than me who is BPII so am going to ask a dumb question. I don't alway "spiral". Is it really possible to go from feeling stable to depressed in a flash? It is what I do and just did. Scares me <tears>.

And for the dumber question: How do you make the emoticons work? When I try to insert one it just puts in text label.

Welcome brat!

I'm BP1, and I experience spiraling at times, but more often than not, it's in a flash for me.

I'm BPII and often shift within a matter of minutes. I think part of it is due to a personality disorder I have. But my biggest problem is that I stay depressed 90% of the time.

I can answer.

Hell

Yes.

That happens to me all the time. One minute I'm just fine and the next I feel this all consuming, painful, debilitating emptiness. Sometimes I spiral and I can feel the spiral down, but sometimes BAM, it just hits me out of the blue.

Oooh... shiny!

Its what I have rapid cycling! I can be happy about something one minute then the next 5 minutes im crying about it..... That is rapid cycling which I have being diagnosed bipolar 1...... You have to be on meds to control the cycles and moods because if you are not medicated it will get out of control...

Times when I keep going up down up down... and so quickly I just want to cry and want to be 'like everyone else'.

When I'm stable I'm glad that I'm me and I have my 'quirks'.

Oooh... shiny!

Well, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. It freaks me out especially since I'm on 3 different meds. Thanks for responding.

I know it's a bad day when I can't get an emoticon to work for me...computers are my game <sigh>.

You know, before this thread... I hadn't really understood the term'rapid cycling'. Always figured it wasn't me and then... whoops... it is.

Life's just full of surprises.

i'm right there with all of you. life can be humming along and then BANG! i feel overwhelmed with sadness. i don't know what's worse, the spiraling or the brilliant surprise of the immediate depression. ah, what a lovely disease. not.
