MDJunction to me

cinderella"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

my BP 1 husband has been in a bad depression for almost a month now. I am the only one working and he is feeling bad about that, he got turned down for Social Security (not shocking but still disappointing). Friday afternoon I got home from work and he was sitting on the couch talking to our oldest son and smiling -this has been a rare thing lately. I asked him if had taken anything, usually if he takes a clonazapin or a pain pill he gets that way. He said no - so then i asked if he "smoked" anything LOL he laughed and said no. Yesterday he woke up the same way. All day he walked around really mellow and looking like he was stoned. He felt good but he felt zoned out. There hasn't been any changes in his meds except for an increase in his sleeping medicine and he was acting like that before we added that in. Has anyone seen this? Do you think this could be his stabilizing himself and coming out of his depression? I am hoping so because I want him to be happy.

I don't know, it sounds like maybe it could be, but I'm no psychiatrist. Give the doc a call and ask him, he would know. I'm glad that he is feeling better and smiling for once. I'm concerned about the zoned out look though. I'd definitely ask the doc about that one. I want him happy too! Hugs

maybe. hope so
Hope has two beautiful daughters. Their names are anger and courage; anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they do not remain the way they are.

Well, it definitely sounds like he feeling better for now. I, too, think the zoned out feeling should be told to his pdoc. How long has he been on an antidepressant? If it's been a month, then it could finally be kicking in. It can take 2-4 weeks before you really notice an improvement.

he has been on this cocktail for awhile i would say since Feb. The only adjustment we made was adding in another (by psych order) trazedone because he wasnt sleeping. Which the doc said was probably why he was depressed (that and a whole lot of life came rushing in on him in the past month - thank god i buffer a lot of life from him or he would be hiding in the closet!). We backed off of the trazedone Sat night and gave him 1/2 of one to see. Doc said we could up it if we needed, just give it a few days before we did that .. i dont think we need to up it LOL Today he is looking better and "less stoned" looking. I am just happy to see him laugh and smile again.

I say don't look a gift horse in the mouth. Unless he is causing problems with his behaviors, there is no need to call pdoc. Just be glad he is feeling better.

Karen I could not help but smile when reading your posts. You are a remarkable woman. I loved who you refered to it as " we" instead of "he." Your love for him and support for him shines through your post. How lucky he is to have you. Give yourself a big pat on the back- you deserve it! High Five!

Sounds like a stabilizing mood to me BUT that does not mean there won't be a relapse...there can be and propably will be.

You may want to look into a great book by Cynthia G Last entitled "When someone you love is Bipolar: Help and support for you and your loved one"...I think anyone in your situation should read this book
