I definitely need to get a new library card after starting this thread! I've been buying my books at Barnes & Noble - my bookshelves can't handle anymore weight, and my bank account is suffering too! "try before you buy" should be my new motto.

i love the library! i can't believe i waited so long to go. you can't beat free books, that's essentially what they are, or free entertainment. i've been going for the past year or so, and i haven't bought any books since. that has saved me a lot of money, because i used to frequent barnes and noble too.

I used to be an avid library user. Once I moved into the place I'm living now though, I stopped. I don't even know where the library in my town is at this point. I just go straight to the city nearby and spend spend at B&N. Are libraries open on Sundays? That'd be a great thing for me to do tomorrow!

When Rabbit Howls is a great story, but I'll second the notion that it's almost certainly triggering for people who have been sexually or ritual/cult abused.

I have found a Young Adult novel (for teens) that has a bipolar protagonist. It is called The Phoenix Dance. It is more appropriate for some teens than An Audience of Chairs and The Province of Hope. So if you have a teen in your life who should read something about her illness, this is the book. --peach

Thank you Peach. I have suspected bipolar teens in my home and a known adult child who might be able to relate to this better than a more mature resource for a beginning awareness of the condition.

I want to thank you all for this great discussion. I went out and bought "Touched with Fire" last night and am enjoying it very much so far. It is not an easy read for me as my reading comprehension skills have gone down with medication side effects, but I'm excited to get through it, no matter how long it takes me!!
In learning to know other things, and other minds, we become more intimately acquainted with ourselves, and are to ourselves better worth knowing.

I started reading The Bell Jar , I have been hooked from the start. Normally, I have a rough time keeping my focus toward a book!
