Been awhile since I've been around, have a 21 year old bp son whom became a father 5 weeks ago. They are trying to make a go of it and it's so not working. He has been through about 11 jobs in the past year and a half some great jobs I might add can't pay the rent, Mom has gone back to work at 4 weeks and we as his parents are ashamed, disgusted and don't know what to do. I think he needs a med change but he won't do it and we can't force it as he is over 21 can't even talk with the doc anymore as he won't sign a release to allow us to do so. I just need some support, yesterday he said he was fed up and going to blow his head off, he accuses his girl of cheating constantly as he is incredibly paranoid which, of course, she is not as he doesn't leave her alone long enough to cheat sometimes even follows her into the bathroom, hangs out at her work for hours on end...someone say something that will make me feel better. Baby is with us a lot which is great...I think we should just fight for custody of her, he scares his girlfriend and us!

Oh wow. I can't say anything to make you feel better. It's so great that your helping out with the baby though and are supportive of his girlfriend. I would really hope the baby could stay with it's mother though. Would there be a chance of the baby and mother living with you together if need be?

Maybe what it comes down to I just can't help but feel that his meds aren't working. Been on lithium for years and think it needs looked at but bp people are so anti med it's hard to accomplish this. I support both of them but of course will always look out for the little peanut and she will always be with her mother OR US!! He's such a good person at heart is what makes it all that much more difficult to understand...I know he wants to do well but it's so tough not to let the dark cloud of bp disorder get in the way...thanks for praising our grandparenting, it means a lot!
