Hi guys, I was thinking about going to a bipolar group here where I live. Did any of you who do go to support groups find it helpful? I feel a little uneasy about it, but I can be in environment where its accepting and perhaps make friends who understand. And it may be helpful. I'm wondering if it will trigger my symptoms though.

Thanks,

Keala

i've gone to one in my town. at first it was helpful..then it was not because one person started to talk..then they just took up the whole hour and a half beacause there was no clinican to run it and I got triggered by not being able to share anything. And I was easily aggitated at the time. But I tried really hard to stick with it. just wasn't the right group for me.

I go to a local DBSA group and we can share if we want or not. Everyone gets five minutes to talk and we have a "gentle timekeeper" who raps ever so softly when the five minutes are up and thats when we wrap up our thought process. I love my group. There is no crosstalk just sharing. It is two hours with one short break.

I love my DBSA group!! I don't go nearly as much as I would like.
