Bipolar stigma......

Hi I have not posted for awhile but am I ever happy I have an outlet like this to vent....

I have had a horrible day, fighting with my spouse, low self esteem etc etc etc!

When these kind of days occur I honestly just wish I could voice to the world that I am dealing with an illness that sometimes deals out crappy days or weeks.

It is unfortunate that the stigma bipolar carries does not allow us to discuss it openly. So many times we often hear someone complain of their migraines or arthritis or even a terrible illness such as MS. Could you imagine if we told our local bank teller or grocer that our day is taking a wrong turn due to our bipolar!!! It's hard not to giggle at the shock a statement like that would evoke but at the same time it keeps so many of us isolated from the support we crave.

I find it increasingly difficult to always put on that happy face in order to hide what is going on inside.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Thanks again for all of your support,

P.s.

I posted earlier (2months ago) that I struggled with a fear of driving - I actually drove yesterday for the first time!!! What a relief to get rid of that fear!!!!

Hi again. It's not BP that hands out the shitty days, it's life!! lol We all have em. Ya know what??? I stopped the mask crap. I tell everyone I am BP if it comes up. My dentist knows. My chiropractor knows. My pain management doc knows. Course I'm 58 and kept it under wraps for 2-3 centuries. lololol Well decades at least. I just don't even care what people think anymore. You get complacent with age maybe. I say if they don't pay your mortgage who cares what they think.

Hey Blackbird, congrats on driving again that is wonderful, I'm with you about how much easier being able to announce to the world we are bipolar would make life, and like you I am finding it harder and harder to smile and be nice..

I've found myself here recently wanting to reach out and smack those moronic idiots I work for, sad to say they do help pay my bills, I've had a string of those bad days recently, but had to smile and be nice in spite of it..

I hope your days start getting better.
