Hey everyone, haven't posted on here for awhile so I thought I'd update on my situation now. I've been on Lithium 900mg for awhile now and I'm definitely doing better, not as scared too go out of the house, express how I feel to others, etc. (I can be an asshole sometimes though I'm mostly a nice guy at heart lol) But anyway, I am still stuck in this low level depression which feels horrible, I've tried everything from walking the dog, going places, being around family but I can't shake it. Is there any herbal supplement I can take for this or do you think I should wait to see what my psychiatrist says? Oh yeah Lithium also is starting to break my face out and make it oily.. is there anything I could use to help this. Thanks

I would suggest proactive for the face breaking out, I know that it has helped me. And I would contact your pdoc to see if maybe your meds need a little tweaking because low level depression should not last that long. Although it is good to hear that overall you are doing better. Keep us posted.

For breakouts Lemon juice will dry your skin out, and white vinger will restore a pH balance pick one, I wouldn't use both... , also hidrocotazone <~~~spelled wrong cream will take away some of the redness of blemishes

I think you should talk with your pdoc regarding your depression. You may just need an antidepressant to start feeling better. I am currently on two antidepressant and for the most part it has kept me from having major depressive episodes. And I am also glad that the lithium is working out for you.

bipolarnotcrazy, I agree with Volante. I'm on 900 mg of lithium as well and up until this past week I have been on and need to be on 2 anti-d's even with them I have had several major depressions.

As far as the lithium and the face breaking out I read that is one of the side effects, but for me or my mom we have not experienced that. That isn't fair and it ranks right up there with BP meds causing weight gain.

During the summer I have a little bit of issue with my skin just from exercising outside, but I have found the Aveda Acne Relief Line really helped that. They have moisturizers, cleansers, acne spot aids, and cleaning pads. I have used all of them and they are great.

My friend suffers from break outs during that time of the month and hormonally caused skin issues tend to be harder to treat and she loves the line to.

And now I will stop my commercial for Aveda and no I don't own shares in the company LOL! Beth

I'm an Advocate

Been taking Lithium for 13 yrs and have always took an antidep. with it. As Volante already mentioned you may need to add an anti-dep with your Lithium will need to speak to your pdoc.

I commend you for all youve been doing to try to escape this low feeling. Lithium is known to be one of the best mood-stablzers i do hope your face clears up sometimes side-effects do go away. All the best.
