MDJunction to me

ThereseML"When I first came to MDJ, I was in need of peer support in dealing with issues of my childhood abuse. I was moving away from the painful issues and trying to find an uplifting group of people to help me transition to a thriver in my life. I found that here. I also found a group of peers with Fibromyalgia and found the same uplifting experience there. My computer crashed and it was a while before I found my way back, this time with issues related to Parkinson's Disease. I had tried a few other support sites before reminding myself of MDJ. On those, I never got a reply. I finally found my way back here and again found very supportive, caring and inspiring people who made me feel like I was 'back home'. Indeed I am." (ThereseML)

Had to have an outpatient test/procedure today. I was very nervous going in and when the test did not yield any results I was very depressed - I so long for the hunt to be over and get a firm dx, but story for another day.

As I was laying there post-procedure and feeling very sad and low (my physical health has been so difficult emotionally as well as physically the past 3 years and I'm looking for the dx with the miracle cure). I refused to eat or speak. I didn't want to speak b/e I was afraid I'd cry.

I knew everyone thought I was nuts b/e most people would be happy with a negative result, but I didn't know the nurses would openly discuss my bp status at the nurses' station outside my door as the explanation for my behavior!! I just wanted to crawl under the floor...

Stigma on stigma.... but then I thought "today I took one for the home team" so none of you should have suffered any discrimination or embarrassment!

You're welcome for this day stigma-free.

HNY - keep those PSA's a-comin'.

H.

You know it's gonna get you, somewhwere along the line... ~B. Joel

I am really sorry you were subjected to that. You really shouldn't have had to "take one for the home team." Stigma be damned.

Hardbed, give me the name of the hospital and I'll have a chat with those nurses LOL!

Seriously though that was completely innappropriate/unprofessional of the nurses and if you feel up to it I would lodge a complaint. It won't correct what was done to you, but it may prevent it from happening again. I hope you are feeling better soon. Beth

H...THAT SUCKS...geez it makes me so angry I could spit nails. I'm so sorry you had to be subjected to that, I'm melting for you. Honestly, that feeling is what keeps me inside my house...that feeling of being paralyzed... I know how you felt exactly H.

I don't curse, but cursing words are spewing from my mouth right now. I had a similiar experience at the alternative doctor today...instead of focusing on the symptoms that I was there for...he wanted to know the last time I saw my PSYCHIATRIST!!!

Say a prayer for them H, say a prayer!Silly

Yep this is definately a HIIPA violation and should be reported to their supervisors. Your medical information shouldn't be used to feed the office gossip mill.

For them to do this behind your back and with no consideration to your privacy or feelings. He who is silent is understood to consent so don't be silent.

Harobed, I am furious. I agree that this is definitely a HIPPA violation. They have no right discussing your health unless it is directly related to your care.

I would definitely file a complaint with the hospital. I am sure that they have some sort of quality control type department or they may even have a patient satisfaction survey. They hospital needs to know when their employees are not following protocol.

I am so sorry you had to go through this. It is not fair, even some people in the medical field are still ignorant to mental illness.
