My brother is moving out into his own apartment he was my only friend now I ahve my mom and a crazy violent older brother that lives with us to top it all off I thought I was going back to college this September but they have not yet made a decision on my readmitt application they tell me July 8 I'll get a decision. My only highlight is that I have lost 12 pounds and i am keeping a diet only because I feel really lousy and in emotional pain. Plus,I now have to take my Lithium as directed because my doctor has my blood results which prove I wasn't taking it plus he said if i continue my brain cells could further die and i would get worser mania. Anyone else wnat to share shitty news

how do you get better?

SO far, I've been feeling better by taking the meds and acknowledging who I am as a person. I don't have to become my diagnosis, and that was hard to understand for me. It's a part of who I am, but its not the only part.

I'm waiting to hear back from college too, about an appeal i submitted. That's pretty stressful. Hopefully , we will both hear some good news soon.

Fuzzy...sorry you are going through such a rough time. I too have struggled with weight. When I first started my meds I gained over 100 lbs. A lot due to the meds I was taking some due to inactivity of depression. I worked with my docs over the years and now take a good combo that help BP but doesn't put on weight. Also got on a regiment of walking which helps with the weight but as important my moods.

Hope you hear good news from school. Can you keep in touch with your brother via the phone or computer? Can you visit him?

Take care and I will see you around!

Hey fuzzy. All in all that makes for a crappy day. I recall your other thread dreading that this day would come when you're stuck in a very undesirable situation. I hope the news gets better. Congrats on the weight loss and exercise...makes a big difference in how we feel about ourselves. I understand the struggle, I've lost about 75 pounds in two years. Put on a pound a month for many years not eating right and not exercising so about two years ago came to terms with it. As mentioned above, the exercise helps my mood tremendously, I try to do 3 miles everyday, but probably averages 5 or 6 times a week.

Let us know how it's going.

I think we make our own luck, fuzzyblackcat. My experience is that when I get up off my rear end and take action my luck is much better. You did it by going to the gym. Each step we take toward doing something to be healthy makes for good luck. I have to confess I don't really believe in luck. I believe in my ability to make things happen for myself. I hope you have good things happen for you.

Hi fuzzyblackcat,

I have been in a rut, too. I take Lithium. Right as I was getting back on it, I got a membership at the Y. I started working out, and was feeling hopeful. Well after 3 weeks. My tale bone got pulled out. So, I have had to limit how much physical activity I can do. It's been over 8 weeks, and the pain is still there. I tried to work out, and was in pain for 2 days.

I have been physical, anyway, but, I end up having to take pain meds afterward. I found out, that, I have osteoarthritis in my tailbone.

So, I have been frustrated, and have been depressed. I haven't gained to much weight on the Lithium, but, I am still worried. I have read so much info on Lithium about weight gain, most of it is negative. It is really great to see that you have lost weight while on it.

I have been walking lately, too, and it really does help my mood.

So, I guess I got to whine, too...LOL

Thanks for the good news.

God Bless,Gypsy
