Been on Lithium for about a month and a half. Actually got(prematurely no doubt) tired of waiting for something to happen the first time and started geoden, which was a really bad mistake for me. But now back to the lithium and waiting for the results this time. But my question is what are the results and what is the therapy for this and other meds like this. Mostly I just feel tired, but still get very angry and anxious most of the time. I guess nothing is a wonder drug of course, but would like to know if others have gotten results from these drugs.

Thanks

Redskin: The first drug my husband was given when he was diagnosed (in hospital after a suicide attempt) was lithium, and it didn't work for him. It took about three or four years of experimentation to get the meds right for him. Now he is taking Lamictal as a mood stabilizer, and that works very well for him. He also takes two antidepressants, plus Xanax for anxiety and Ambien at night to sleep.

Keep plugging along... they will get it right eventually.

Does it get any better? Can it get any worse?
Will it go on forever? Is it over tonight?
Does it come with the darkness? Does it bring out the light?
Is it richer than diamonds? Or just a little cheaper than spit?"--Jim Steinham

redskinmann...why not try keeping a mood chart...it is so helpful..record moods, sleep patterns, meds, spending, activity, etc.

Some meds give a gradual lessening of symptoms, and it is hard to pinpoint when things are getting better. Share the chart with your doctor, you know how fast those doctor's visits are, in and out in a hurry, the chart is an easy visual tool the doctor can review and make assesments...tweaking the meds is the key to getting relief from symptoms. It takes some patience...hang in there...we are here for you.
