Help me with this....My husband was talking about his son the other day and said "He needs help with his bi-polar". I seized the opportunity to say "What makes you think he needs help with it if you don't?" He replied, "Because I've learned how to control it".

How much do you think a person can control bi-polar? My thoughts are:

1) It's a brain malfunction....how do you control that?

2) What is the purpose of meds if it can be controlled

by the individual.

3) (To quote a wise woman) There is no pill for a$$hole

and there are some things they can control.

4) You're not doing a real good job there, Pal.

If nothing changes, nothing changes.

No need to drive me crazy, I'm within walking distance.

sad that they actually think they can just "control" it. you can't control a chemical imbalance with sheer willpower anymore than someone with diabetes can control their sugar levels.. you can do things to help control it..take medicine, eat right, exercise..but willpower?? NOT! sorry Bailey, I bet this drives you crazy!!

I had the power to save him

I had been conditioned to believe

it was my responsibility to prevent it

and truth is

i am not qualified to do either.

I wonder if he says that to his son,, would his son have the power to get him to go?? Just a thought....

I agree with what taylynn said - well put!

Thanks, Bailey.... I needed the laugh!
"Well I won't back down
No I won't back down
You can stand me up at the gates of Hell
But I won't back down

No I'll stand my ground
Won't be turned around
And I'll keep this world from dragging me down
Gonna stand my ground
And I won't back down"
