I was recently diagnosed as having bipolar after my husband left me for another woman he met on the internet. I have been on medication for depression for 15 yrs before this. Now I have racing thoughts going thru my mind all the time that just won't stop. How can you turn your mind off? I keep hearing all the bad things my husband said to me over and over again.

Holly: Even though this is a site for BPSO's, I think I can answer your question. The racing thoughts are usually an indication of mania. You should call your pdoc ASAP and let them know how you are feeling. Are you taking a mood stabilizer?

I am on Prozac and Wellbutrin at the time. I was on a fairly new med called symbiac or something like that and it worked really well once I found the correct dose, but it caused me to gain 14 lbs. in 1 1/2 months. I had to put a stop to that so we change my meds to the Prozac and wellbutrin combo. It just isn't helping though.

Prozac and Wellbutrin are both antidepressants, which more than likely will cause you to become manic w/o a mood stabilizer to go with them. Have you called the pdoc yet?

I go back to my doctor in two weeks. I don't know why they didn't give me a mood stabilizer. I will have to talk to them about that. I am driving myself crazy.
