A new group was started not long ago for a rare group of people. Some have been told that there is no medical answer for their ailments or that what they are experiancing is a mental condition, nota medical one. Psychosymatic, psuedo, conversion disorder and somatoform disorder are a few words that come to mind when I think of this group of people that includes myself. Symptoms can range from non-epileptic seizures, fainting, jerking, blindness, pain of any sort, blindness, hearing problems, stroke symptoms...you name it and someone out there has been told that it's mental, not physical. I disagree.

Having this disorder myself with fainting spells, jerking and seizures (psychosamatic and epileptic) I know how real and debilitating it is. I know that even though there is no test on the planet to prove why these things are happening, I have a physically and mentally troubling problem. The physical problems are very real and sometimes very painful. We are not faking or trying to get attention. Theses ailments are a thorn in our side and we would love to get rid of them but with no test to prove what is wrong there is also no treatment for some of us (this doesn't apply to everyone). Its just as emotionally difficult feeling people dont believe there is anything wrong with you when you feel the effects of it all.

If you or someone you know has this disorder or believes they may have this disorder, please join the group. We are here to support each other in every way. Sharing our symptoms, ways to relieve them, even just venting about how frustrating it is to live this way... we will be here for one another. In order for the support to be there, there has to be members... so join our group now!

Good luck on your journey and remember that you are not alone...We even have our own support group now Wink. Look for the group under the mental illness catagory as Somatoform disorder. We look forward to seeing you there.

Day by day we struggle but it is by the grace of God we make it through.

God gave us free will but just because we have the choice to do what we want doesnt mean we should dismiss the consequences...our actions always effect others- sometimes more than they effect ourselves.

I am not a doctor nor claim to be. My adive is my opinion. See a doctor if you are in a crisis and need professional help.
