MDJunction to me

cinderella"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

Angry Ok how to start. I went to my PHD on 4/5 I have had a break down. He then hand wrote a letter and faxed it to my HR dept that very day. I have had FMLA papers filled out and faxed by My PHD as of today. The sad thing about all of this is they are making it very hard on me. The lady in HR said I will fax your documents to your doctor then turns around and denied it stating that it was up to me to do that! I have a dead line of the 8th. so I printed the documents faxed them myself to my doctor and had to pay for it sigh. Voltary shared leave is also offered were I work. I just know they are going to try and screw me out of that. What are my rights being BP. Under my drs orders im to be taking care of me how am I going to do that worring about this. any advise would help thanks.

What is voluntary shared leave? Your company doesn't have to know your dx.

Wish I could help... My employer made it very easy for me when I needed short term disability/FMLA. Of course, our regional HR Manager had MS so I think he was much more sensitive to 'our' needs.

Capecod is right, they don't need to know your diagnoses. One thing I was told though was that in order to receive the protection that The Americans with Disabilities Act offers, you did need to let your HR Department that you had a legal disability. Once I did that, the flood gates opened and my employer's HR Department was great (my boss less so).

Eric17 doesn't give himself enough credit: underscoring to your HR dept. that you expect your rights under Americans with Disabilities to be recognized and protected puts them on notice that if they try to play games, you will have an attorney shining a flashlight up their backside.

All this assumes that you are in the US, of course.

Finally, I understand your worrying, but try to adopt a sense of humor or do something to help you avoid catastrophizing. You simply don't need to rub yourself raw with stress at this time.

Luck to you.
