I used to sing duets with my mom. We got asked by many churches to sing. She taught me how to play piano also. It really gave me a love for music. I really enjoyed those days when we would sing even at her apartment accapella. We sounded so good together. Our voices blended so well.

Who is next?

I used to share coffee with dad and just hangout with him.We would talk on the phone for hours on end everyday. My Mom the same way.She would give recipes and we talked about cooking she was a chef. Before I hang up she had a accent so it was hard for her to say somethings she would say hokie dokie instead of okie dokie it was funny I miss her saying that to me the night before she passed she didn't get a chance to say it to me .She was in a hurry to leave We would go to movies and etc .They were not only my parents they were like my best friends .We were really close ..

It is wonderful to have good memories of times together. I think it helps you have a part of them with you. It sounds like you really had fun with your dad. When you cook the foods from the recipes you can see how your mom is still with you. Im glad you had such a good relationship with them.

Thanks for asking Petunia. There was a Christmas song I loved to do called Only a Child. We did a lot of other songs too. My moms' favorite song was The Old Rugged Cross.

It sounds like you had a lot of fun with her petunia. No, you arent off topic. I am so glad you shared this . I can just hear it. That is wonderful.

My best memories are of saturday afternoons down in the basement with my dad, lights off watching a black and white tv. Of course there was always a good Tarzan movie on, if not then we would watch Shirley Temple or Jerry Lewis/Dean Martin movies.

One thing I always miss is having my dad watch me put the Christmas tree up. After my mom died when I was 15- it was in the spring- my dad did not want the tree up that year. I was so upset because my mom loved Christmas and for me I WANTED the tree up. We argued about this but somehow I won- ha ha- anyway he said "If you want the tree up you are going to have to do it yourself". So for 20 years I put the tree up on my own. (My dad used to do the lights and stuff for my mom.)

Eventually he enjoyed watching me put the tree up. Now when I do it I can still think about him sitting in the same chair while I did the work!

What good memories we have. I used to watch those Shirley Temple movies too. Thanks for reminding me. My mom would try to make my hair look like Shirley Temple.

Christmas memories are wonderful meleggs. I bet you can have a laugh when you see your tree. My hubby puts lights up on tree also. It must be a guy thing.
