Hi all,

I have Barrett's and was wondering if anyone has experienced severe wheezing at night? I've been seen by a lung doctor and I do not have asthma. In light of that, he assumed my wheezing was caused by my GERD, so I was treated for that, with no success. The wheezing is really interfering with my sleep, & my life & I really want to get to the bottom of the cause. I am due to see my Gastro Dr. in a couple of weeks, but just looking for some feedback prior to my visit. Thank you! Smile

It is quite common with GERD to aspirate refluxate which will cause wheezing.

My doctor increased my PPI (to 80mg omeprazole) as it was all he could do with medication but, although it stopped the acid, it didn't stop the reflux.

You probably know all the advice to reduce reflux: eat small portions more frequently, don't eat for 3 hours before going to bed, use a wedge under the mattress or blocks under the head end to raise it 6 to 8 inches ...

But for me, in the end, the answer was a fundoplication.
