MDJunction to me

ThereseML"When I first came to MDJ, I was in need of peer support in dealing with issues of my childhood abuse. I was moving away from the painful issues and trying to find an uplifting group of people to help me transition to a thriver in my life. I found that here. I also found a group of peers with Fibromyalgia and found the same uplifting experience there. My computer crashed and it was a while before I found my way back, this time with issues related to Parkinson's Disease. I had tried a few other support sites before reminding myself of MDJ. On those, I never got a reply. I finally found my way back here and again found very supportive, caring and inspiring people who made me feel like I was 'back home'. Indeed I am." (ThereseML)

Hi I've was diagnosed with Barretts oesophagi tis about 2 months ago and have been told that I would be seen again in one year for a follow up endoscopy, my GP has prescribed omeprazole 40 mg daily, however this is making me feel so I'll . I have no energy, have dark circles under my eyes and wondered if anyone else feels like this?

Hi June! Could you be anemic? I was feeling the same way and on the same as you 40 Mg. I would just get your blood checked. Good luck. It turns out I am and it is not from that. Get yourself checked

PPIs reduce stomach acid making the absorption of essential minerals less efficient. So you may well be lacking iron, making you anemic.

I used to be on 80mg omeprazole for months (until I had a fundoplication operation) and the resulting anemia meant I'd get out of breath and struggle just walking 50 yards.

Now I no longer need PPIs, I'm cycling between 20 and 30 miles every day.

Still not sure if I'm answering this correctly, however reading some of the messages on here has got me thinking, After having a endoscopy for having problems eating I was told at the time that I had barretts oesophagitis , I was told to go and see my G P for a prescription of omeprazole, this was about 2 months ago, my GP did explain to me what Barretts oesophagus was, she also told me that a had a bug cold H pylon which I have received treatment for,Since then I have only received a letter from the hospital telling me that I have barretts oesophagitis and that my details will be placed on the barrett's surveillance programme for a follow up endoscopy in one year. I don't know any more than this and am not sure who or what questions I should be asking? I would like to thank rl1972 and robichis for their replies, but at this very moment I am feeling very unsure of what to do next !

There is no cure for Barrett's other than ablation therapy.

Do nit trust charlatans who try to sell you their "cure": they are only after money from the gullible.

If they really had found a cure, they would publish it and make millions.
