MDJunction to me

Joy75"MDJunction to me is a second home. I visit daily to support and get supported. Everyone is so great here. The people are what make this site so
perfect. When someone says I helped them, I feel so good about myself. When
I am down, I come here to talk with my lovely friends. This is a great site
and I’ve come to love it and my friends here. Thank you for making such a
wonderful place to call home!

Some studies report the lenght of the Barrett as being a risk factor for evolution to dysplasia and then to carcinoma (in other words, the shorter, the better).

No doubt that if you ablate away your Barrett you probably eliminate all the risks. I say PROBABLY, because, as we already said, we still don't have evidence in the long term that the procedure is really safe.

PS

In this perspective, since you can easily afford to wait a few years, it could be a good idea to see how it goes with ablation in the long term and take advantage of the forthcoming new therapies and biomarkers.

Anyway, I perfectly understand you, the first days since the diagnosis, the first think we all want is to get rid of the Barrett.

The doctor showed me a picture of my BE. It looked just like others online. I am scheduled for another scope next week, so just hoping.

Has anyone heard anything more about that triple drug therapy that is supposed to get rid of the barrett's. I saw it on another thread, and wondered why it hasn't gotten more attention.

I have asked some GIs but no one knew about that. One of them just said that it makes sense to use sucralfate, PPIs and folic acid and that it probably can help.

I presume that the greatest part of the effort in research is actually devoted to biomarkers analysis and thermoablation: why should we conduct experiments (lasting years) with standard drugs when on the horizon we can spot better (and probably definitive) solutions both for surveillance and healing?

Concerning your Barrett, if you follow a regular diet, incline your bed and take IPPs, it could even disappear, at least in my humble opinion.
