Hey Debi,

I think we're all keeping up to date, so you just rest as much as you need to! All is going well here on the forum as far as I can tell. I'm checking in pretty often now, too, so don't feel like you have to stick here and be on constantly. You need your rest, too, so just do what you feel like you want to.

Get well, and let us know what the doctors say when you see them. Your visit is getting close! I hope they can get you whatever it is you need that'll get you out of pain, whether it's surgery or some new fix they have out!

Hugs,

Jen Smile

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Perhaps I truly am insane for expecting these docs to listen to me when I say the same things repeatedly to no avail? LOL. I am tired of seeking out new docs and getting the same result time and again...Forgive me if I seem bitter some days.

Hey Debi,

I'm so sorry you're hurting so bad. It's rough when you have more than 1 problem, because the pain from 1 (back injury) will affect the other (FMS). You almost can't cope with 1 if another is flaring, so I get where you're coming from. I think this may be what's going on with you, and why you're in so much pain.

Sometimes our meds will get to the point where we are just at a level of having taken them for so long that they no longer work. Our tolerance for them is just too high, and we need something else. There are two options here. You can ask for a different medication, or you can stop taking them for a few days, and let your tolerance threshold come down. If they aren't working anyway, that may be a good idea. However, you'll be in a lot of pain.

Don't stop anything but your narcotics--keep up with your FMS drugs. But if you want, you can also ask your doctor to change out your meds to something that is similar in dosage, but different enough from what you're taking that your body will recognize it as a different drug and you won't have the tolerance to it that you do now to your drugs. What I usually have to do is to take my meds for 2 or 3 days and stop because I get too accustomed to taking them and my body just doesn't get relief after that long. If I don't stop after a couple-three days, I just can't get relief. It's like I'm just tossing candy down.

So, I think that's really all you can do that I'm aware of.

Me, I'm hanging in there. I've been trying to take it easy and keep my pain down. My UC and OAB are up and down, but now that I kinda know what I'm dealing with, I'm finding ways to manage them.

Hugs,
