MDJunction to me

jayna01"My name is Jayna and I wanted to take this opportunity to say how much MDJunction has meant to me. I always felt so alone before I joined in April of 2012. I felt like there wasn't anyone that really cared about me and what I was going through. I felt like there was no one that would truly listen to me in what I was feeling. Nobody was there for me. That is before I found MDJ!

I have found and met such good people on these forums. I never ever knew there were such compassionate people before MDJ. It's also nice to know that I can come here anytime and get support for what I am feeling. I feel like I have met some wonderful life long friends. It is also an outlet for me to try and help other people that are hurting. It gives me a good feeling inside and gives me self confidence in helping other people.

I hope MDJ will be as good for you as it has been for me! Many Blessings and Much love.

I'm stayed in hospital three days and they let me go home to early. The surgical stuff I was told to use before surgery I ended up breaking out in rash.

I'm still itching like crazy I was allergic to it.

Hey Belinda,

I'm glad to hear your surgery went well, but I guess I'm a little confused by the way you stated your first sentence? Did they let you go home earlier than they were supposed to? I'm not sure I get what you were saying. Are you in pain because you were released earlier than you were supposed to be? Can you clarify that please?

I'm sorry to hear that whatever they gave you before the surgery gave you a rash because of allergies, but that's becoming more and more common. Was it a pain patch? If so, many people are allergic to adhesives, so I'm not really surprised. I myself am allergic to latex, so I have to be careful with patches and bandaids! LOL Wink

I hope you'll find some relief from the itchies soon, and I hope you feel better as far as any pain goes soon as well.

Hugs,

jen Smile

Hey Belinda,

What did you take that would cause a rash? Do you feel that the surgery has worked or is it to soon to tell? I would love to have more info as I may be looking at back surgery myself. Update when you can.

It was a surgical wash used for washing up before surgery.

Since it's 1:09am I'll have to get back to you tomorrow with the name.

Hello Jen,

I was let go in 3 days 12 hrs after they stopped my morophine drip.

I was still in a lot of pain when I left.

So far I think it's to early to tell if the surgery worked or not.

My scar hasn't even completely healed yet.

The name of what I used to wash up with before surgery is:

HiBicLENS( chlorhexdine Gusconate)

Hey Belinda,

I'm not surprised you were let go in 3 days, honestly. People who have babies are released like the next day unless it's a C-section, and then I think they go home in 2 days? So, 3 days, I'm thinking, is probably fairly standard, although it seems very early to all of us. And remember that the longer you stay, the more it costs everyone: you, insurance, and the hospital. Not that that should play into it, but sadly, it does. So long as you have healed well enough that you can be sent home, they'll usually cut you loose. Plus, if you look at most of the studies, they tend to indicate that most people heal better at home in their own environments, where they are more comfortable and can sleep better. It's kinda a fact of life--it's been proven both with pets and humans in studies.

I'm not surprised to hear it's a little early to tell if the surgery worked out yet. Most back surgeries take a good 4 to 6 weeks minimum to get you even STARTED on being able to really get mobile again, so unless they did something pretty unique, I'd imagine you'll not have any real results to share for a good 2 to 4 weeks. But I bet you'll have some indication within a few weeks, at least if you're even starting to feel better, and that should be a good indication if things are going as planned.

The HibiClens is pretty common for use with cleaning--Clorhex is the generic name for it, and it's unusual that people react to it, but if you're really sensitive, which if I remember correctly you're pretty sensitive to a lot of stuff, I bet you'd be the 1 to react! Poor hun. I'm sorry to hear that. Is your skin settling down by now from it? Did they recommend anything, like Benadryl or something for it? Can you take Benadryl? If so, I'd call the doc and see if you can take it up to 3 times a day, or your incision may actually rupture from the reaction. You really want to get that settled down (this is from experience, so make sure you get that situated as soon as you can). Usually oral is better than a cream, you usually don't want to put a cream on the incision, but they may advise it if the reaction is really bad and you can't stop itching at it.

Hope that helps some!

Hugs,

Jen Smile

Jen,

I'm still itching like you wouldn't believe.

I see my surgeon the 8th of March He's gonna ask me if I've been walking yes.I do assume walking my dog counts. All the meds I'm on now have me taking a lot of naps.

I'm taking pain pills, meds for my epilepsy.I'd like to see him take these meds without a nap.

Hey Belinda,

I'm sorry to hear you're still itching--be careful of the incision. How's that healing, btw?

I would seriously consider calling the surgeon's office and see if taking some Benadryl would help with all the itchy/scratchies, cuz you really want to try to calm that down. I know it seems like March 8th is just around the corner, but if you're still itching this far out of surgery, you want that to calm the heck down, woman! LOL Wink You may find that you're also having an internal reaction to the sutures as well (many people do), and Benadryl could help there as well. They may want to know this, so I personally think it's important to let them know. JMO, of course, and you have to do what you think is best, but I think it's important.

I think napping, so long as you are still able to sleep at night, is a good idea. And since you're able to get up and walk the dog, that sounds like a good sign to me. It sounds like the surgery may already be showing signs of having helped you! That's great! Smile

Glad to hear that you are walking your dog. That does seem to be a good thing. The itching does concern me. Has your Dr. even addressed it. That is not normal for this long and could lead to more problems. I guess I missed what type of back surgery you were having. I am trying so hard to avoid the whole surgery process until I have no option at all. The naps will help you to heal but make sure you do only what you are approved to do. Hope your day was better than yesterday and tomorrow will be better than tomorrow. Keep us updated.
