Hi Bellamom and welcome to the group. It's so new we are trying to get word to others that we exist. The correct name is the 'Post WW II baby boom' - or something like that. I think you're in because the only requirement is being born between 1946 (w/ a few from the end of '45 included) and 1964. I thought, for years, that I was not a boomer because my father was far too old to be in the war. But I am am indeed a boomer because I was born at the right time. I remember thinking as a very young child that my clothes kept getting smaller. Guess some things never change. LOL

If anybody is interested in working w/ leading the group, please send word to me or Roy. And if any of you have any suggestions for topics that fit in and would be interesting to discuss, make a new thread.

I'd love to see this group survive, but it's not going in the right direction. So give us a hand. There have to be hundreds of questions about the boomers. Can't we find a few?

I suggested this group because I am homebound, and go thru periods when I watch way too much tv. I suddenly noticed that the target of more and more places are moving away from teens and 20's. There are more and more commercials for those in our age group. A lot of boomers do have fortunes to retire on. I'm entitled to SSD and am in the lowest income group. I've been disabled for abpit 20 years, but I was able to work until about 10 years ago. I've had problems w/ depression and fibro all of my life. Many of my other medical problems come from fibro making everything worse, as well as causing new symptoms.

Stop changing channels during breaks from the shopping channel. Kept me from bankruptcy. I am very proud of myself for never buying anything that can't be paid at the end of the month.

I'll check back later.

Warm welcoming wishes,

Sylvia

The guy in the next car could be on a computer in the dash board (whoever dreamed that up should have to watch autopsies), while the one behind you is texting. It's important to be aware of those around you. The kid who ended my second to last life was in a huge SUV and on the telephone.

Hey, Bella mom-

Other than what Sylvia wrote-I just wanted to add that I think this group is whatever WE want it to be. Issues about growing older, our sexuality, our finances, how to protect ourselves emotionally, physically, psychologically-and just to be there for each other. I think you should just post whatever you want.

Ask...and you shall receive, right? What issues are you currently dealing with?

All the best,

Cynthia

Hi Cynthia, thanks for all the ideas. How about starting some new discussions in those, or other topics? As I said, the group was my brain-child and I'd really like to see it take off. And you are right. We can make whatever we want of the group. That's its purpose - to talk about what's happening as we age,our problems, things that are getting getter, whatever any of you think fits probqbly does - so post it qne we'll find out. Smile Please put new topics in new threads. It is natural to see, e.g., Cynthia's ideas and post about something you saw in it on the same page, but yhis page is a kinda intro page, and other topics tend to get lost when added to another topic.

Unfortunately I am in a fibro flare that doesn't want to quit. I'm glad to know my brain works at all. I've had my meds and am back to sleep. Hope to see y'all come bck. I think we can have a lot of fun while getting ideas on how to handle growing older. Let's give it a try!

Be well ladies,

Sylvia

Absolutely! And I've read your postings about your fibro flare up, Sylvia. That must be tough-especially trying to also get to your group leader's activities. "How to Handle Growing Older?" That's a sort of general topic-but if we break it down a bit, that's pretty much why we're all here, right?

IS anyone here?

Hi Cynthia, all of what I've written is not fibro. I have a serious case of fibro, but could probably live w/ it if I didn't have a whole list of other conditions. The situation is chicken and egg - do other things set off fibro or does fibro set off other things.

My aide is here. Why don't you take one of your topics and start a new thread?

Best,

Sylvia
