Hello everyone, My name is Brandy and my son has just been diagnosed with Autism. He is 5 and at first we thought it was just ADHD. I insisted that the school district do further evaluations. I am glad I did, now I realize that he can't help how he is. It is also a relief to know that it isn't a reflection on my parenting ability. He has been seeing a psychiatrist and has also been diagnosed with ADHD and OCD. Which I'm learning is all a part of autism. I sought out a group to join for support because I'm at my wits end. I love him to pieces but lately it's out of control. We just had a meeting last Friday to get his IEP initiated. (It takes effect tomorrow). My hope is that I can learn from others that have been where we are now and as we learn we can help others by our experiences. What a blessing to have a group online that can be there 24/7. Brandy |
