 Hi!! My name is Kristin and I have no idea where to start. My son Brandon is different from the other kids. It is getting more and more obvious as he gets older. He was diagnosed with ADHD and ODD when he was 5. Lately though we are wondering if it isn't something else entirely. I can't explain all the little things that make him stand out. He has sudden uncontrolable outbursts of anger. When this happens you can not reason with him or even talk with him. He is sensitive to noise and clothing. Socks have to be just so and while he will wear jeans he prefers track pants. He is also very obsessive about things. He lines all his stuffed animals around his bed at night and talks of nothing but 3 subjects. Yu Gi Oh, Zelda and Nintendo DS. Sometimes when he gets angry he runs and hides, other times he sits and rocks on the floor with his hands over his head.I wish I could better describe my son. It is all so complicated though. I'm hoping that this group will help my find a way to help my son.

 Hi,welcome

I am shell mum of 6 four with autism.

I also have Aspergers syndrome.

Perhapps you shoud ask for him to be reassesed,go back to your G.P and ask for a referal for a Multy-dicaplinary assessment at your local hospital,tell them he has a lot of autistic triats,and you would like him assessed.

Alternativly you can ask the school to get him assessed,sometimes it is slightly quicker

please ask if you need anything specific

 He finally got assessed through the school. He goes for the last bit of testing on Monday. That will be with the speech teacher. This only all happened so fast because he got violent again at school and is now pending expulsion. I need to find a parent advocate to go with me and my husband to the case conference on April 24th. Right now they are supposed to be setting up homebound instruction for him. I just want to pull him out of school and homeschool. Get the private evaluations done. I am really losing faith in the school system. I swear my family can't catch a break. My husband is unemployed again. My daughter is having surgery on the 15th. Thankfully it is just her tonsils but I'm still worried about her.

I can certaily help if you are near me,or you can give them my email if they want to ask something.

Homeschooling for a child who is high functioning is not a good idea though part home schooling may work.We need the soacial side of things in order for us to learn,I know it is hard and you want to protect but we must learn to be able to one day be independant
