Since Thursday, last week, the twins have been super hyperactive.

Now, they do not eat candy or any other kinds of sweets. Their juice is 100% juice but watered down to half and half. They do not drink soda and do not eat chocolate.

For some reason they have been bouncing off of the walls and the only thing DH and I can come up with is that this might be a "strange" part of their ASD.

If so, please help/explain. If not, we are going to have to "kick" them out of the house and have them drive the neighbors crazy for awhile.

Also, as the twins are on different areas of the spectrum, the teachers and support specialists are saying that we should seperate them. Our thoughts are that the lower functioning one uses his higher functioning brother to learn from (he always has) so what kind of emotional "trauma" are we going to cause by seperating them? I know that we will end up with regression, but will it be extreme?

Do you think that seperating them would help with the high competition we have been seeing, arise, in the higher functioning child?

I am sure I will have more questions the more I think about this and once some answers come in on this thread.

Thanks.

sounds to me they have found some suger somewhere,

I know when I was small I craved both salt and suger ,I would eat old biscuits bits of jam anything and would lick the horses salt lick all day lol.

Do not seperate them that will be like losing a limb for both of them, behaviour and frustration will overload to epic proportions, these so called proffesionals who i might had have no children let alone a child with ASD sit back in there office and I am sure they make it up as they go along.

If more docs were aspie a lot more would get done.I would look everywhere for the stash it will be somewhere ,

How much sugar is too much for an ASD child. I mean, they have syrup on their waffles. There is sugar in the juice (even though we water it down).......

Their diet and the amount that they eat really hasn't changed recently.

I will have to find out what they are eating at school and double check with Grandma, what they are eating after school, before we pick them up.

I can't imagine what epic proportions would be (sometimes it seems like things can't get any worse than what they are) but I really don't want to go there if I can avoid it.

We do not agree with the professionals either. But not wanting to be swayed by the fact that we are the parents, I thought I would ask your thoughts on the subject.

suger is only a problem if the child gets hyper when they have some ,if it dos make them hyper then an alternative should be sought.
