Hello group!!

As you may or may not know, I have a son who is quite severely impaired. He had a traumatic birth injury which he now is 11 and suffers from autism, bipolar, mild mental retardation, and some tics. I have 2 other daughters. they are 7 and 8. My 7 year old was just recently diagnosed with aspergers and adhd. It is very hard with the 3 kids. We had an outing yesterday, we went out to the show, and ice cream, etc. We got home and wished we had not left the houseSad My son kept getting up and talking through the movie, which was expected, but they all did not listen and my son had attitude. It seems every time we take them to a movie this happens. However we often do outings with just the girls while my son is at grandmas or respite.

well, any advice, thoughts, comments is appreciated. thankyou. Melissa

I'm a little confused. Do you have a question about SSI and feedback on yesterday?

Check with your county to find out the guidelines for SSI-Disability. You can also check online through Social Security.

As you may already be aware, the amount that the disability affects a person and the family's income will be the beginning factors for disablity.

Just a question I had. didn't realize there was another post. Was wondering if aspergers is grounds for ssi. My son gets ssi but he is much more severely handicapped.

Aspergers Syndrome most definitely warrants SSI. It affects physical aspects of the body and it can cause a major delay in finding a job to help support living expenses. Those two statements alone warrant SSI for aspergers syndrome regardless of how they say the total income has to be under a certain amount. It is for contribution and also to help pay for therapies that are not covered for aspergers.

Hugs,

Kris (and my service dog- warrants extra SSI as well)

Does your theater have sensory nights at the movie? Harkins theaters here have a special showing where families dealing with sensory issues can enjoy a film. The lights are not turned all the way off during the movie and the sound is turned down a little bit. Plus you don't have to worry about your kid acting up because everyone in the room understands.

Previous discussions I participated in:

Very, very much New!
