My son of 17 has been a quasi-normal kid until he split up with his latest girlfriend. Since then, he's completely, COMPLETELY changed. He started to follow some meditation classes and he also "meditates" at home some. What worries me is that he's completely quiet, he doesn't communicate, doesn't talk even, he doesn't want to see anybody, he just stares and shuts up. At school he's a disaster, he even stopped going now, and he was a brilliant student a couple of years back.

Can this be autism? Can it make its debut later, in adolescence?

Have you talk to his doctor about his new behaviors I know that my cousin wasnt diaignosed with aspergers until she was 14 but your son might be just going through depression I would say got piece of mind to talk to his doctor and go from there hope you get some answers and best wishes to your son

hi hun

no it couldnt be autism my friend

he has some issues to deal with and its his way of dealing with them.

Autism just dosn't come over night.

There will have always been some sign early on in his life.

he does sound very depressed though and maybe he should see your g.p
