There's been a lot of venting and everyone is so stressed this time of year I thought it was time to do something happy.

So here is my question to everyone, I hope you all take the time to answer and read all the different responses.

How has Autism postively affected your life?

My answer:

It made me a more understanding, less judgemental person.

Freckles thank you for the hug. Today is a much better day. Autism has positively affected my life in many ways already and I've only been in this world for about 2 months. But I used to be the type of super busy, task oriented person always trying to get things done in a timely matter (I'm a ICU nurse, what can I say?). I often used to put my son in the living room, and play for a few minutes and he was so good at keeping himself entertained (before the bomb hit) that I used to spend quite a bit of time cleaning the house, cooking, paying bills, organizing etc... In just two months I have spent more time with my son, really playing with toys, becoming keenly aware of what bothers him and what makes him laugh, tick, think... I feel so much closer to him. I never used to pay such close attention to anything I was so busy getting things done in my life. Well my house is a disaster, I forget to pay the bills on time sometimes, there are always dishes in the sink, but Never does a day go by when I don't play, roll around on the floor, tickle, use my mind to come up with new ways to engage him. I think I'm becoming a better person and more importantly, a better mom...

Thanks for the thoughtful opportunity to reflect on the positive. Its hard to do sometimes.

finding out I have ASD has in a way made me like myself more. I understand myself alot more and so do the people around me which has made me alot happier and alot less frustrated all the time.

I'v come to accept and like my quirks and differences.

It's also helped my relationships and made me a less anegry person.

It's also helped me to forgive myself for past mistakes
