Okay guys I want your opinion on this. There is a facility 40mins from where I live called JD McCarty. They have every kind of specialist you need there, but it is a 30 day evaluation for services thru them. I just don't know if I can handle or my 4year old can handle this.I don't even know if it's the right thing to do.Will she be traumatized?A friend of mine has her Son there right now and when I told her I didn't do it when they offered it to us she said she couldn't hold her son back, which got me to thinking. Am I not sending her because of my feelings? Is this something I just need to suck it up and send her?I just can't imagine what she might think when I just leave her there.PLease give your opinions

So you have to leave her there for 30 days? I couldn't handle that!

My mom took me to a health camp for the whole summer when I was 4. I cried the whole time and when she came to pick me up I was mad at her. She never called me or had any contact with me. This was the first time I was away from her. Even years after, I had a very hard time staying at friends house that lived a block away. If this is your son's first time being away from you I probably wouldn't recommend it. Will you be able to call him or visit him? It's a tough decision.

Are there a few things you think your daughter might be diagnosed with? I don't understand why it would take 30 days - that does seem like a very, very long time away.

There is no way I would let my 4 yr old son be away from me for 30 days. I wouldn't be able to stand it! I would never want my sweet boy to think I abandoned him. My friend admitted her 10 yr old daughter to the Phoenix Childrens Hospital a few years ago for a one week evaluation. It was supposed to be 7 days but ended up being 10 days because they were adjusting her medications and keeping an eye on that. She was diagnosed with bipolar and aspergers. she came out of it feeling much better about herself. She gained 15 lbs on her tiny thin frame, she looked much healthier. She was able to have visitors every day.

I have decided not to do the program.I think maybe it is good for some people but not for us.I would leave my daughter there with autism, sensory integration, and Fetal alcholol and could pick her up with post tramatic stress syndrome as well.No thank you maybe when she is older if we really need it.Thanks for your help

Excellent choice!!! I agree when she is a little older and can understand what's happening it may not be as tramatic!
