I have tried sotalol and as an asthmatic it nearly choked me . It is not for everyone. I take 150 mg flecainide daily and 1.25 bicor and this works well for me. Have been taking these drugs for a few years now and it is a matter of fine tuning the doses.
Good luck Peterkelvin...

Hi….:-) my name is Ruth and I am 61 years old. I am married to a wonderful supporting husband. We have 2 Sons and 3 Grandkids. One of them is 8 and we are raising her since birth. Recently I was diagnosed with a fib. I have been suffering from this condition for about 10 years, but no one could figure it out until now. My life is very active and busy especially with my Granddaughter. So far I was put on several meds which I had serious side effects to. I am on a new one called SOTALOL. I hope an...

Looking for tips on how to handle the stress/anxiety that occurs when I go into A-fib. I'm fine one second then the next I'm in either atrial flutter, A-fib or premature atrial contractions. I try slow, measured breathing and meditation. It still stresses me out. I've been dealing with this for ten years, have had 7 cardioversions and two ablations. First ablation lasted approx. 10 months. The second ablation they nicked the three veins, lost 6 units of blood and my BP dropped to 50 over 30...

Hello friends.

My wish for all of you is a peaceful Thanksgiving, knowing that you are not alone in your challenges with atrial fib. Right now I am experiencing an episode -- mine come on inexplicably about once every year or so. I am using an Rx at home for the first time to see if it will revert w/o hospital cardio-version.

This is my first visit here.

I know how frustrating and dismaying this condition can be, and certainly must be especially so for those who live with this all the...

Mixed feelings a bit - my younger brother is arriving on Monday for a few days. I haven't seen him in about 2 years! SO excited!! But.. as I have mentioned before - he is coming to see my surgeon about his ablation. I hate that the entire family has this issue!
He has been on various different medications and had the clappers (lol as we call it - cardioversion?) which only really worked for a week if that, so this is the next step.
Will let you know how it all pans out.

Hope everyone is w...

It's one month till my beautiful baby brother comes to visit from overseas!!! I am SOOO excited.. yet not in a way too - as he is coming to visit my surgeon to have an ablation - still.. we get 2 days together, it's been a few years since I have seen him - and I'm taking carers leave to get him to his appointments.
Love him so much!! Can't wait!! I'm glad he is seeing my surgeon rather than one where he lives - I KNOW he is dedicated to his work.

I hope everyone is well :)...

I checked it out and started reading the ingredients. And it is a soy product so I will not be able to take it.
I will talk to the cardiologist when I see him in December about the coumadin though.

It was put off because one of the surgeons had an eye operation - shortage of staff I think.. still.. when it's your kin.. you want it done. He's not well and I want my Dad ok :) selfish yes.. but then again.. the medical system needs a massive overhaul in this country - such a shame!
Yes hard to watch them age. Mum has had breast cancer - she had radiotherapy for that, during that treatment they discovered bowel cancer - so she moved on to chemo after having her bowel removed.. or most of it...

Hi maebellino - it's a shame that it's slow here. I have just been made a group leader and hope to help pick this group up a bit :)

Having been through 'some' of the works, I hope I can make this a positive place to be - and maybe encourage others to participate more :)

I'm not promising to be here EVERY single day - or every moment of the day as I have a full time job, but I do come here often (almost every day).

Please don't be discouraged - it really does help to discuss things wi...

My ablation was a success.. however I'm wondering now if the afib is returning. My heart rate is rising - or it could just be stress. Must return to the surgeon and get checked out!

Hi, yes I had an atrial ablation in 2010 - my heart rate is rising again now :( Really don't want to have it again, but if I have to.. I will. The result was amazing I have to admit.
My brother had a cardioversion a few months ago.. it worked for a week. He lives overseas but is coming here (Australia) to see my surgeon and have the ablation to see if that helps. Fingers crossed.
I'm not sure what I will do.. I guess monitor it, and get an appointment made....

I started out having Anxiety attacks; well at least that is what we all thought including the doctor. This past March went into full Afib. It also happens with or without meds every 2-3 weeks. Now I just found out that the bottom of my heart is also not working right along with the other. I totally believe all along it was Afib. Now I am facing 2 procedures. I am scared also but we can get through it. Just have to TRY and stay positive. I still have a hard time, but it does help and I am new her...
