Hi I am Amelia I am new to Asthma, or should I say it is new to me My asthma is triggered by allergies. I take

Flonase Nasal spray

Benedryl

Advair (inhaler)2 times a day

Advent (inhaler)4 times a day and when needed

Maxair (inhaler)3 times a day and when needed

When I was in Jr High I had exercise induced asthma and that is when I found I was allergic to albuterol. Above are the meds I am on for my asthma.

Oh and Nowwhat, I am also worried about the side effects of the drugs I am on. some of them being steroids and all. sometimes it is scary.

I was diagnosed with asthma 2 years ago. I was 58 at the time so I guess I'm a little grateful that it waited so long. The medications I am on are:

Symbicort 160/4 2 puffs twice daily

ZyfloCR 1200 mg twice a day

Flonase

Zyrtec

as well as the rescue meds

Albuterol (Inhaler and nebulized)

prednisone more often than I'd like.

I read an article in Men's Health (www.menshealth.com) called: "8 Drugs Doctors Would Never Take -If they won't use these medications, why should you?"

Here is the list:

1. Advair (for asthma)

2. Avandia (for diabetes)

3. Celebrex (for arthritis / pain releif)

4. Ketek (antibiotic)

5. Prilosec (for heartburn)

6. Nexium (for heartburn)

7. Visine Original (for eyes)

8. Pseudoephedrine (decongestant)

Not sure what to make of it but, I know that when I see my doctor next I will be asking her some questions!
