MDJunction to me

neshama48"Having Crohn's Disease for over 26 years, in the first few years, it lonely and isolating.
Though now my disease is in a near perfect remission, my friends and family are sympathetic to me, but I can not talk to them about this disease. When I stumbled across MD Junction, and met others who had the same disease I was not alone in battling the disease. MD Junction is like a second family, without the judgement or guilt of having Crohn's Disease, but they do give you love and support.

I do all of the above. I talk really fast sometimes and always pause, stutter, or do the uhs like Yoshi. When I am explaining things I do A LOT of Uhs and you knows, or I have this "habit" of assuming someone knows what I am thinking or going to say. I get overwhelmed by everything from brushing my teeth, to cleaning, to talking, to not talking, to walking, to leaving the house, to cooking, to - yeah, a LOT of things. Dare I say everything?

I do that too. My fiance complains all the time that it takes me forever to say/explain anything! >< It really frustrates me to communicate in general. But I have trouble replaying conversations back in my head, so when he gets confused, we both usually end up confused. XD

I have had so many people tell me that I take everything so literal, that I need to "lighten up" and I am too serious about "everything."

I have heard that since I was a little kid "lighten up". I've grown to hate that phrase. Why do people spend so much time saying things that aren't meant to be taken seriously anyway?!? And when they say "just kidding" I think "but it wasn't actually funny, how could it have been a joke?" Now I say to my boyfriend "oh was that one of your jokes?" Communicating is hard enough in my opinion without all that to figure out.

I stutter or stammer sometimes when I'm trying to explain and say beseechingly "you know what I mean" (they rarely do). It's like the words are all in my head but I can't get them out and it feels hopeless cause I just know when I get them out the other person still won't understand. I have gotten to the point where I just don't care to express myself to people that don't understand cause I can't put that much work into it anymore and I hate how confused I get. I realize now that it's not their fault and they're not trying to make it hard for me but I'm just so burnt out. My whole life I wondered why I had to change how I communicate. Although to be fair to my boyfriend and my mom they make great efforts to work out what I'm saying and not joke with me too much anymore.

I am self-diagnosed with Aspergers traits. I do a lot of these things in communicating, but I do not know what causes it. I stammer sometimes even with people I am comfortable with. When I am excited (i.e., angry, frustrated, or happily excited) I may stammer more and talk too fast. My efforts come out as more excited than I actually feel.

That's funny Libby. I mean the part about seeming more excited than you actually are. That's what happens to me. People will think I'm all worked up over what I'm talking about but I'm actually worked up about just getting the words out. hehe

I do the same things. They actually developed into anxiety and even panic attacks. :/

It is really refreshing to see that I am not the only one who has these issues.

Ah. People think I am mad when I am explaining something that bothers me as well, when I am NOT mad at all. >O<
