After several suicide threats, some self injuring behavior. We admitted my 13y/o son to a hospital. It is there we learned that he has been hearing voices since he was 6 years old. It was around that age he lost his grandmother (whom he was very close to) to cancer and 5 mos later lost his father to suicide. He's currently on medication and goes to a therapist weekly and he says the voices are gone. Has anyone else experienced this?

Oh jeez I'm so sorry no I haven't to experience this but I know the difficulties of having an autistic child as they grow my daughter will be 6 soon. Even though so many things have improved you can see more clearly her troubles. It's hard as a parent to see your child struggle. I'm truly sorry for your loss. it's funny because I have come to realize my daughter feels and loves just like us but cannot express it the same. If it were my guess this is a coping mechanism and will suppress with time. Lots of love lots of hugs and telling it will be okay, welcome to the group. With love, Deja

I hope you're right and it does suppress.
