Hi Everyone,

I am interested in learning from others whom have been diagnosed with RA/PA and how severe your leg/toes/feet pain is? I am on disability now because mine is so severe throughout my body. I am on Humira, tried Methotrexate a couple of times, liver couldn't take it. I take Morphine & Vicodin for pain daily. Tinazidine for my cramps. However my legs/feet/toes are getting worse. I am getting a motorized scooter/wheelchair this Fri. I cannot walk for very long without lots of pain in my calves. The only thing that gives me relief is heating pad or massage. I don't get out much as a result. Can anyone chime in and relate to the extreme leg/toe pain?

Thanks!

Mike

Hi Tiger, roar (LOL). I wanted to welcome you here. I'm sorry, I've not been diagnosed with the PA/RA but have arthritis and fibro. I tell ya, some days are worse than others. I use Voltaren gel on top of taking pain meds. It is like everything else, might work, might not. I sometimes soak in a warm bath. Seems winters are real bad. My back is worse. I wish you well! Growl. Smile

Mike,

Welcome to the group. I have osteo artheritas in my knees and fibro in my legs. I just had a mri done and they, said my,knees are so deteriorated they can not do my knee surgerys now. Also due to a change in medical coverage I can,not see my old pain management dr so I dont get my morphine and vicodin for pain so my pain level is off the charts till I see a new pain dr on the 14. I am also in a wheelchair due to my legs not able to stand and due to the pain. My legs and feet hurt so bad and to even have cloths touch my skin or wear socks is so painful. I now just wear soft pj pants.

To funny Janquito! Tigers are my favorite baseball team, plus my mom use to call me it when I was a kiddo. A heating pad helps me a lot or a hot shower. Thanks for the welcome.

Hi Mary, thanks for the welcome. I can't imagine being without my pain meds. I told my PCP last week I wouldn't make it long without them. Thank goodness I have a good Dr. How long have you been using a wheelchair?

That's funny. I told my Dr. I was ready to amputate my legs if it got rid of the pain. No kidding! Dead serious! I can relate Mary. Trust me.

Hi TigerMike, Glad to see you are talking with the group and that you have joined us. We always will find someone that can relate to what we are feeling. I have severe fibro everywhere in my body and RA in my jaw joint. It is well controled at the moment with the Cymbalta, Abilify, Tramadol, Indocin, Plaquenel, and Baclofen. I also use Vicoden to help with the severe pain. I have a loss of discal space in my lower back and my knees hurt enoug that I sometimes can hardly walk. I am sure there is something wrong with my knee but they swear everything is "normal" according to the x-rays and tests that are performed. I like to use a water foot massager on my feet to help my legs feel better. It is a wonderful piece of equipment cause it uses nice hot water (however you want the temp is optional) and air bubbles to massage the feet in the water. You can find them at walmart. I recommend them to people who have lower extremety issues. I also suggest a matteress heating pad that you can sleep with and will get nice and hot for you to sleep with. It works wonders on the aches and pains of a cold night.
I'm a recovering self injurer (clean 5yrs about),have Severe tendonitis, Sinusitis, Asthma, Allergies, Insomnia, RA, Fibromyalgia, TMJD, MDD, and a host of other traumas I have overcome throughout my life.
Im not an expert, but I have been through hell and back with medical procedures and medicine treatments.
Im getting my degree in Pharmacology, and want to learn more about how these problems can be treated.
My worst enemy is my health, and I believe I have the strength to not let it get me down.
