Hello, everyone!

My name is Nancie. I'm an occupational health nurse here in Texas. Currently, I'm on medical leave because I had to have bilateral hip replacements due to severe osteoarthritis. I was unable to walk or work. After being a nurse for 31 years, I'm not accustomed to having to wait for someone to assist me with any sort of activities. I pray that my hip replacements will allow me to return to an active lifestyle once more, particularly to return to work. I also have autoimmune disease. Does anyone else have this type of complicating factor?

First off, welcome to the group! I am glad your surgery sounds like it was successful. I will have to have knee replacements in the near future but I am not able to work anymore due to all of my medical issues. Will you be getting any physical therapy? I wish you well and hope you will post here often.

I also have an autoimmune disease (Sjogrens) and have recently been told that I need a knee and shoulder replacement. I also have fibromyalgia for which I started cymbalta about 3 monthss ago. After a week of cymbalta, the fibro pain was, and is gone. Now what I'm noticing, without the fibro overshadowing it, is arthritic pain in just about every joint in my body. I've been wondering if there is a connection w/ autoimmune disease.
