I'm an Advocate

My doctor had me on a Beta Blocker, which was helping by cutting the number of arrhythmia episodes by about half. Then after the heart cath, he changed me to a Calcium Channel Blocker. I hate it! My ankles and legs swelled. The arrhythmia happened more often than when I was on the Beta Blocker. When I went to bed at night, my heart beat really hard and kept me from sleeping. My blood pressure wasn't high, but was 10 points higher than with the Beta Blocker 130/60.

I complained yesterday, and now he has me taking both. My blood pressure and pulse are now back to normal, but I'm still having a few (not many) episodes of tachycardia.

I wonder if this couldn't be accomplished by raising the dosage on the Beta Blocker, then I wouldn't have the swollen ankle thing.

Do any of you take either of those types of meds? Do you have side-effects? Do they work for you? Do you ever get rid of all the tachycardia?

I hope you are all snug and warm on this snowy day.
