Hi! I joined the Pulmonary Hypertension group first. Here I am also. Since 1999 I have had tachycardia lasting a minute to several minutes to half a day. They finally caught one on paper in the ER abt 2004 or so. All those other times no one could get it on paper. It would stop. In 99 I was the victim of road rage(in my face by a young man) and that is when it all started. Well, after March 28 th this year they were slowly coming back. They lasted all afternood for 2 days only seconds to seconds. Even in my sleep(Ijust recalled.) I felt tired and my chest was tightish and felt so,so like I had just finished a jog. Please visit the PH support group so I don't have to go over what I already wroteTongue A lab said my thyroxine level was hugh. 1 point above the max. A series of tests show regurgitation(mild) in all my valves and thickening in my heart(right side?)(MY PCP kept my copies!!)Now he has lowered my synthroid to 125...was 150 mcgs.I bet that was the problem there. But one test showed I had PH at 40-45.I feel great right now and likely cause I am on 3 meds for hypertension. Lisinopril-coreg-norvasc. BUT...I still have a blood pressure of 150ish/90ish. I know we aren't DRs here..but maybe someone could relate to me what they may know now abt any of this. Darn old bp will not lower. What gives here? Don't know when I go to the pulmonologist cause they have to call me. I'll give them 2 days!! Whistling Thanks piddler [img]

Welcome to the group! I too have tachycardia, esp vtach and SVT on a daily basis. It is annoying and I wish I could get rid of it. I will admit I do feel a bit better after the ablation I had about a month ago....

Hi Mamanordy! I've been gone a little while. I have 3 lil stooges that call me Nana. All under 4 1/2. I see one of yours.Right? I found out I have to wait till July 31 to see a pulmonologist abt my DX of pulmonary hypertension. The heart racing and jumping and however one wants to call it has started again. Last nite in bed. I guess the 3 blood pressure meds are wearing off in their strength?? I may call a pulmonologist myself for an earlier appt. The meds seemed to be keeping the tachycardia at bay. My PCP lowered my synthroid from 150mcg to 125 mcg. My levels on my tests were a point higher than they should have been. I was thinking that that was why the tachycardia was going on. Guess not. Itwas all better when they gave me the 2nd blood pressure med, coreg. It was after that that they changed my synthroid amount. Couldn't sleep. Gonna go try now. Have a great weekend MamaNordy. piddler55(Nana!!)Laughing [img]

Hi piddler, so glad to see you again! It is a lonely little board. I wish more ppl would find us and post.

Well, I had an ablation on April 11 and my EP dr totally reprogammed my pacemaker and I have been feeling better since then. Now of course I usually always have some abnormal Vtach or SVT when having pacemaker interogated but I dont always feel those.

Hope you start feeling better and you get some sleep!!

And yes that is my grandson. Only one so far. But I believe more will be on the way soon. Wink

Hi Mamanordy! Guess a lot of people have yet to know this type of thing is here for them.I came upon it thru a search for info on arrhythmias and/or PH.I think it is a good thing for those who share these medical problems to cope. What was the reason for your pacemaker? My little sister was to have one and a nurse talked her out of it,as she told me. She had ulcerative colitis/Chrohns and also needed removal of part of her colon before all that came abt. She died before any of this could be talked abt any further. Cardiologist believed the pacemaker would have helped her an awful lot had she got it done. Her Dr was my Mom's Dr also.My Mom has one and is 82(almost). I'm 52. How old are you?Grin If you don't mind saying that is. Later, Jackie(piddler55) [img] [img]

Hi Jackie, I am 52 yrs old! I had to have my pacemaker because of complete heart block. Passed out at work one day, an employee found me unconcious at my desk (worked for drs). She dragged me to an exam table, called the dr to hurry up, called 911, my bp was 60/30 and my heart rate was at 23. Paramedics rushed in, gave me shot of epinephrine, hospital across the street, very lucky, when i got there I had another episode and they whisked me away for emergency surgery to have the Pacemaker. I almost bought the farm that day! I was in CCU for a few days.

I am so sorry about your sister. Why did a nurse talk her out of getting one???

Evening! You were indeed blessed that day. If you had been anywhere else...it may all have not worked out in timing. Now that you said it was because of a heartblock I recall you wrote that to someone else. My sister was totally afraid of any of the surgery she was facing. A lot of us are.Unsure I was already here in GA and was not there as I had been before in all her ER trips in the middle of the nite. She put off her colon resection and later her pacemaker. She listened to the nurse ,I guess, thinking she knew her stuff more than the DR!!!!!! She was continually passing out at home. Sometimes over taking some of her meds. She could not remember when she took her pills last because of the episodes. I think that is what killed her. She lived with my 80 year old Mom. The coroner said accidental overdose. Her fear of surgery took her life.Sick She passed out so much that it was too common to see her laying to one side on the sofa. Mama put her there(80 and frail and a heart patient herself)on the sofa from off the floor in the kitchen(my sis was making pot of decaf for Mama). She lay there even after my other sis got there to check on her.one hour or two,and she is not breathing. We all seem to blame ourselves for her death. Mama has a pacemaker too.I cannot tell my Mom abt all I am going thru because she is getting over cancer treatment(and she beat the cancerCheerful)and I feel she needs all she can muster for herself. Not for me. So...thank you for being here to listen. Nite, piddler Grin [img] [img]

Almost forgot...my synthroid has been dropped down to 100mcg now and the tachycardia+palpitations are still going on. On all my meds and still going on.Tried the straining thing to see if it would help them disappear.Nope. Breathing in slow and deep and not getting bent out of shape here. Won't go away. [img]

Jackie I had an ablation and a complete reprogramming of my pacemaker in april and I have to say since then, knock on wood, I havent been having nearly as many tachy episodes. And for the first time since I got my pacer I do have a bit of energy now! I hope I do not relapse. I do have dizzy and lightheaded spells if I overdo it. I cant get out in the heat and humidity, I am very susceptible to weather changes.

I hope you are feeling better. CALL YOUR HEART DR!!
