I have been on Pristiq for a week now. I am still a little nasueaus and I have a lot of headaches from it but it has seemed to help my anxiety some. I know i have to wait another week or so for it to take full effect. I know this is a fairly new med and I was just curious if anyone else had tried it and how it worked for them. I just started seeing a new doctor because my old doctor did not seem to be taking my anxiety seriously. My new doc took me off all my klonopin and ativan and that was really hard so now all I have is my daily med and I am so used to have my band-aid meds when I need them. But I am hoping this new med will work for me. Anyway if you have tried or are on pristiq or any other meds please let me know your experience with it. If these headaches do not go away I may have to switch to something else. I want something that treats anxiety. I know that more than likely I will have to be on a an anti depressant but I would like to be on something that really helps with anxiety too. I have heard that cymbalta helps with anxiety but the one time I tried to take it I started getting sick and vomitting within just a few hours of taking it

My girlfriend at work tried it. Apparently it is very similar to another drug she had been taking? She did not think it made a difference for her, but everyone is different. I stayed up 24hrs after taking Cymbalta, it was crazy. It really takes a couple of weeks to adjust. So, give it some time. You may want to try eating with eat to help with the nausea. I am not sure about the headaches? Are you drinking fluids? I would call my doctor if your symptoms continue, they are always available and they can make easy adjustments over the phone. Good luck! If you do find that it is helping, it will be great relief in your life!

I had a similar experience with Zoloft when I first started taking it. My doctor prescribed me 50 mg tablets to take everyday and the first time I took it, I freaked out!! It made me feel so weird, like I was in a fog and couldn't really concentrate on anything. After that first time, I started breaking them in half and only taking 25 mg. I have been on them for a little over a month now and it has really changed my life. The first two or three weeks, I noticed that I had a headache everyday and I was sure that it was the Zoloft giving them to me. I mean I would wake up with a headache and they would come back on and off throughout the day. I also noticed that I slept like the dead. I would wake up feeling so foggy and my husband said I never even moved in my sleep. Both of those side effects have worn off though. No more headaches and/or deep sleep. I still sleep very well at night, but not so deep that I get my dreams mixed up with reality like I did at first, lol. But, the smaller dose seems to help me tremendously. I am so sensitive to and weird about medicines. I have Klonopins but I don't even take them anymore. Hope this helps a little.

I am interested in trying the pristiq too. I go on Thurs. to my doc so i will see what he thinks. I took the Effexor before but it made me more anxious but I have heard that this one does not so I am very interested to see. I have been on Zoloft for 2 years and it is just basically quit working for me.

My family practice doctor was the first to give me meds for anxiety and depression and it was Pristiq. It was the first med I had really ever been on and it really did nothing for me. It did calm the anxiety but made the depression about 10 x's worse. I started seeing a Psychiatrist and he took me off the Pristiq, which I had been on four about 3 months, so it wasn't working for me. He then put me on Effexor, which is supposed to be the same thing and that did not sit well at all. Soon after starting it I was shaking and could barely walk, and feeling like I was sick 24/7. Then I was slowly moved onto Zoloft which has helped some, but have added other medications to help. Does it work, I don't know yet I just passed the 1 month mark on Zoloft, so we will see. But my experience with Pristiq and Effexor was not good, but that does not mean you will have the same experience.
Current Meds
Zoloft 200 mg during the day(Depression and Anxiety) and 50mg at night(for morning anxiety)
Vitamin D - 2000 ui Daily
Folic Acid
Calcium
