For some strange reason, I have been stuck in the classic detective fiction of Rex Stout and Raymond Chandler lately - rereading via audiobook all I can lay my hands on in last two weeks. Have no idea why. Also, Dashiell Hammett's "The Maltese Falcon" & am on hold for a few more of this genre at the library. Now I am in the middle of "Moby Dick," and I have no idea why I felt like I just HAD to read that one right now.

What are you reading?

After finishing "Moby Dick," I went on to slog through "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" by Victor Hugo, followed by one of James Herriot's books, "All Things Bright & Beautiful." I've downloaded audiobooks on the Dust Bowl of the 1930's, Gettysburg, Arlington National Cemetery, and a Marcus Didius Falco mystery by Lindsey Davis. Don't feel up to holding a book and trying to focus on the written word, so I am listening. Nothing like having someone read to you!

Note to self: remember to check on the LENGTH of an audiobook before automatically downloading it for a 7-day check out from the library. "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand is listed as (in unabridged format) 62 hours 56 minutes 35 seconds!!!!!! Unless one gives up sleep & everything else, it isn't going to get finished in 7 days!!!!!!!!LOL!

Thoroughly enjoying the Marcus Didius Falco mysteries by Lindsey Davis, and wish there were more available on Overdrive from the library. Sigh.

and

Cloud Street

Has anyone here read anything by China Mieville?

We are reading the following: The Mammoth Book of Lesbian Erotica, Lesbian Erotica 2010 and Lesbian Confessions. They are very interesting and I love to read out loud to my partner, so that works out very well!

It is so interesting to find out what others are reading. I did manage to finish "Atlas Shrugged" and am listening to "The Decameron" by Boccaccio now.

Read on, fellow bookworms!

Personally I like a good book about spiritual adventure.

I am reading "The Tiger's Fang", by Paul Twitchell.
