Hi,

I thought that I should introduce myself before I start to use this website. I suffer from major anxiety but I don't seem to have anxiety attacks. My problem is that I do not want to get out of my bed. This is a large problem when you are a married woman with a full time job and two teenage kids!

I spend as much of my free time in bed as I can. No TV, no books, just the silence of my thoughts which are 95% worries. I am on meds and am in therapy but nothing is helping. My house is a mess. I am not getting as much work done as I should. One of my kids worries about me and the other takes advantage of the lack of supervision. My husband mostly has given up.

There is so much that I could be doing in life but I am waisting it due to anxiety.

Anyway, that is me.

I hope that there is help for me. I hope that I can help someone else.

HI...Welcoe to the group.....You say you don't have attacks???? So you are just constantly anxious 24/7..????? & the meds are not calming you down in anyway???? I must commend you on still working & looking after a family.......Why when you are laying in bed try to read some self help books or listen to some music.....Music really is good for calming....Are you depressed as well??? Sounds like it to me ........Smile

I am not a medical doctor.....My opinion is purely that....I try & give the best advice to help others from my own experiences.......

" We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same."

I don’t know what the key to success is, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone.

Sometimes we need to stop analyzing the past, stop planning the future, stop figuring out how we feel, stop deciding what we want, and just see what happens.

Forget the past, it has already happened, worry not about the future, it has yet to come. Concentrate on today, and make every moment count.

MDFarm,

I can understand how you feel. I grew up with a Mom that was anxious all the time. She grew more and more anxious until she finally stopped leaving the house. She was on too many pills to count. It turned out that she had a medical condition that was either missed altogether or misdiagnosed. Have you been checked out medically by a medical Dr.? Or were you just told to take a few anxiety meds and sent on your way?

I have been misdiagnosed several times, too. Every psychiatrist wants to diagnose me with something new. I am finally getting control of my anxiety. I finally started working with self-help books and the right therapist, but it took me 6 years and over 7 therapists to find the right therapist. Now a few of my anxiety symptoms are disappearing or at least recurring less frequently. Maybe you just haven't found the right person to talk to? The right therapist will leave you feeling a little drained from the session, but feeling better emotionally/mentally than when you got there.

Good Luck.

Hi

My son is a doctor - and he often tells me that I need to get more hobbies and interests to take my mind off of worrying more. He tells me that sitting or lieing too much and worrying is the worst thing I can do for my depression and anxiety.

I hope you will be feeling better real soon.

Love, Raoul
