It is a bit dangerous stopping any kind of medication without medical advise. I understand the need to please your family though. You say that the meds are making you tired. Have you just started taking them? I am on Seroquel as well and the tiredness only lasted about 2 weeks. I actually feel ok on them now. Everyone is different though. Most doctors don't like to prescribe Valium, well in my experience anyway. I was on it for a while but they weaned me off it because I was getting too addicted to it. I understand that you don't want to feel like a walking chemist but you need to be taking something to take the edge off your anxiety etc. It is worth making an appointment with a doctor and discussing your options. There are some tablets out there that work without all the side effects. Sorry can I ask if you have a specific diagnosis? I am on an anti depressant called Sertraline and it has worked wonders for me. There are little side effects and you never feel tired. I hope I was of some help to you. I think that a trip to the doctor is your next step to sort out your medication and make sure you aren't harming yourself by stopping abruptly.

I'm here for you if you need anything else.

Hi Serenity, I know it isnt easy to have other health problems that require medication when your in recovery. Doctors are so afraid that a person will relapse! The fact is that most people won't become addicted to the meds., they become physically dependant. The people that need them for medical reasons are not the ones that abuse them. It is usually people that get them illegally!! I'm in recovery and on narcotics for chronic pain! I talked to my doctors about my fears and they talked about theirs. We came up with a plan to make sure I don't have troubles with the medication or relapse. I was honest with them and myself. They then gave me the medication I needed.

I know that your family wants you to be more alert and awake. It isn't in your best interest to stop taking your medication. Your family will suffer even more if your anxiety returns and your mood gets worse! Your recovery will then be affected and your family will lose out on all of you. You need to take care of yourself too!!!! This is only my opinion of things from my experience.

Hurtwithin is right, it can be very dangerous to stop taking medication without talking to your doctor. Can you call for a consltation? I don't want to see you have horrible side-effects or end up having bad anxiety! I do understand your frustrations.

If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know. I also replied to your other post in another group. I'm here if you need anything, you can PM me anytime! Your friend, Chris ( looking forward to warm weather )!!!!

I would love it if you'd post in the addiction groups and share your experience, strength and hope with everyone. I'm so glad that you are here and are willing to share you story with everyone. It will help others to have more than just my point of view.

I'm glad you are going to see someone. I was worried about you stopping your medication. I know that doctors can be cruel to us that are in recovery and need medications. They assume that we will abuse them without even giving us a chance. There are some that are willing to work with us. It took me awhile to find one but she is great. I do take some pretty strong narcs. for my pain ( Oxycontin 40ms 2x daily and oxycodone 15 mgs 4x per day). It is alot but is needed terribly!

I'm sorry that you are feeling so bad. I dont know much about your illnesses and will have to do some research on them. If your ever struggling with the thought of using again, Please come here and talk to someone or talk to your sponsor! I'm here if you need me. Your Friend, Chris
