I have been on short term disability since February due to my panic disorder. My boss called me today and told me if I dont return soon I will most likely get fired. A few months ago I couldnt even find the strength to leave my house. Now however I can go to town (I live in the country) go out to dinner, go to Walmart ect. However every time I think of going to work I get terrified, there is something about work that scares me. I have a really good job that I would rather not lose, but I am not sure I can face this fear. I struggled at my job for 3 months after my panic attacks started before I went on disability, I was pretty much in a state of panic the whole time. I am not sure if thats why I have the fear or not. It has helped me joining this group. I wish you all the best.

HI MIK, SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE BEEN DOING WELL THOUGH. YOU CAN GO TO TOWN ETC....... ALL YOU CAN DO IS GIVE IT A GO. TRY & GO BACK TO WORK & IF YOU STILL FEEL PANICKY WHEN YOU GET THERE YOU MAY BE ABLE TO CONFIDE IN SOME-ONE AT WORK. YOUR BOSS MAY UNDERSTAND OR MAY NOT....YOU CAN ONLY TRY....TRY NOT TO WORRY ABOUT IT THOUGH. THINKING OF YOU ......;0

Thanks for the support guys (or gals)I do think they can legally fire me because the state of Wyoming is a right to work state. The way I understand it is that in Wyoming you can be fired for no particular reason. I was told by my boss that the company is making cuts due to the economy, and that if I didnt get back soon that I would be the first to go. If they fired me I dont think they would say it was due to my disability but because they need to make cuts in the workforce. In any case my anxiety is through the roof.

my mother ran into the same thing after the death of my grandfather and she just gave up on her job and then regreted it for the rest of her life

You need to find that courage I know you have inside and face this demon head on. I know it sounds cold but in this economy you can't afford to lose a job because to find another one the competition will be feirce due to rising unemployement. Think of it this way, you have gone through the worst part, the interview, finding one and getting hired. Do you want to go through that all again.

YOu can do it we are all hear for you

Please, please forgive me,
But I won't be home again.
Maybe someday you'll look up,
And, barely conscious, you'll say to no one:
"Isn't something missing?"

You won't cry for my absence, I know -
You forgot me long ago.
Am I that unimportant...?
Am I so insignificant...?
Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?

Even though I'm the sacrifice,
You won't try for me, not now.
Though I'd die to know you love me,
I'm all alone.
Isn't someone missing me?

Please, please forgive me,
But I won't be home again.
I know what you do to yourself,
I breathe deep and cry out:
"Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?"

Even though I'm the sacrifice,
You won't try for me, not now.
Though I'd die to know you love me,
I'm all alone.
Isn't someone missing me?

And if I bleed, I'll bleed,
Knowing you don't care.
And if I sleep just to dream of you
And wake without you there,
Isn't something missing?
Isn't something...

Even though I'm the sacrifice,
You won't try for me, not now.
Though I'd die to know you love me,
I'm all alone.
Isn't something missing?
Isn't someone missing me?

Just an update, I went to work today for two hours I am thinking of going full time on Tuesday (5-4-09). I had anxiety all day but I never had a panic attack. The anxiety can be terrible even if your not having a full blown panic attack. What tools do you use to let the anxiety go?
