I know all these Raoul , thank you , i was just explaining to LostInCyberSpace12 what was my physical condition before starting Klonopin . And yes , Kayheal meant 0.5 , i noticed the typo also but i didn't want to make a correction , because i don't want a misunderstanding , like i am playing the scientist here .

My attacks stopped when i have discovered what is causing them . It was a false idea that my heart is ill , because due the trauma i had on the E.R. i was sure i am having a heart attack and they can't handle it , i had to get through the night with 170 BPM , 220/110 Bp and anything such a heart rate bring with it . That night left it's fingerprint on my brain ,and in 3 days my panic disorder started . After i went to a cardiologist and he told me that my heart is ok , it is as healthy as a heart can be , my panic attacks ceased .

Anxiety and panic attacks have a root that starts them . If one is able to find it and destroy it , this will be the end of the disorder . I should have done that before going on Klonopin , because i could have avoided addiction . Now i have to fight withdrawal . But it's ok .

Interesting - but I do know people who are on 5 mg and even 7 mg of klonopin a day - and yes - they are/were in deep trouble with it.
I am not a doctor - and my advice is purely from my personal experience and my opinion!!

No medication here. I tried Citalopram (celexa) for about 2 months, but didnt feel like i felt any better than i did before hand, so i quit them because i was managing to deal ok without.

When my anxiety first came about, i decided to buy a programme to try to help me. It didn't work (The linden method). Then, i went on to read self help books, which did help me a great deal. They made me less afraid of my symptoms.

I felt brave enough to try therapy once i got a slight hold on my anxiety, and even though i didnt much like my therapist, and i only had half a dozen or so sessions, it helped me a LOT - although i swear i could of taught the therapist a few things, never mind the other way around lol.

Once i finished my therapy, i decided i would give meds a go. Probably sounds strange but i wanted to try and get better physcologically, rather than down to medication, and once i put the wheels in motion with the therapy, and saw some progress, i felt like i had nothing to lose. I'd already done the hard work, right?..Anyway, i like i said, the medication didnt make me feel all that great, so i decided to carry on faking it, until i made it.

A good diet and regular exercise helps my anxiety. Also making sure you get enough sleep, which is something i fail at, being a night owl.

I met a girl in another forum who was a RN. She told me she saw patients on 20 mgs of klonopin for seizure disorders. That is understandable but I think if you are up to 5 mgs per day of klonopin for anxiety and panic, you are possibly headed for trouble. I say possibly because I don't know.

Therapeutic guidelines based on clinical experience suggests the following max. daily dosages according to Dr. William Kernodle, MD., altho this doc says he always strives to give less than the max suggested dosages.

Xanax = 2 mgs

ativan = 4 mgs

valium = 20 mgs

klonopin = 1 mg

tranxene = 30 mgs

I would be really concerned if I was taking klonopin for an anxiety disorder and got over 2 mgs, JMHO!

Raoul said>>>> Interesting - but I do know people who are on 5 mg and even 7 mg of klonopin a day - and yes - they are/were in deep trouble with it.I have also known several people like this and they are in horrible shape like Raoul said. Benzos work wonderfully for some people and they never seem to become tolerant. A big red flag should be raised however if you find the dosages needed to keep your panic at bay slowly creeping up and up.

@Jane74, excellent! I wish I had taken this (your) approach in the early years of my panic disorder. I am doing it now though so that old saying you can't teach an old dog new tricks is wrong.

The things Jane74 mentioned are all critical for good physical and mental health. I am still struggling with the food and sleep but I am trying. I have done the exercise all my life. It has become a part of me now without even thinking about it.
